I was stoked when I heard Smith & Wesson was moving to East Tennessee! A little bitter sweet because of the history made at their Springfield Mass. location, but what can you do when your state has become extremely anti 2A …? 🤷🏻 Maryville Tn is great and about 15 minutes away from my driveway! Oh, and it’s actually “Merr-vull” Tn as they say around here… 😉🤣 Great video as always, Hickok! 👍🏻💪🏻👊🏻

Training with firearms is always good, and some need it more than others, depending on how a person has grown up. I highly recommend some training with firearms for a new shooter. That said, we cannot make it a religion or let the government mandate it. Somehow most people do fine with no required training in how to use a ladder, a chainsaw, a hedge trimmer, etc. Or how to hike in the mountains and such. The vast majority of people see the risk and danger in certain objects or activities and act sensibly. There will always be some who don't, of course, but we cannot let the tail wag the dog; there will always be idiots among us, and there will always be accidents. No way to prevent all risks.

If kids are safely exposed to firearms very early in life all the curiosity would go away. When they do happen up on one they will know what and what not to do it. I’ll just say this about adults needing gun safety classes…….. going to an “open to the public” range at the local WMA is a very frightening experience.

Good morning from the Breakfast Club! It's starting to get cold here in the great state of Ohio. It's cold enough that I just saw three politicians with their hands in their OWN pockets. It was cold enough this morning that I had to thaw out the flame in the fireplace at the clubhouse. Deer season is getting really close so I'm sure the range will be well used today. We are anticipating extra members with their kids so we have a couple extra " cooks" this morning on the pancake production line and the egg and sausage griddle. Plus, Neighbor Ned will need at least 2 extra breakfasts because he's starting to build up his " winter fat and winter fur" before he goes into hibernation. Legend has it that between December 26 through April 10th, he never leaves his basement except to file a false tax return and to watch " The Batchelor" on TV. Old Harry says he goes to Ned's house the end of February and slides a poached deer down the coal chute every year. I thought you would like to know Hickok that you are so popular with the kids at the club that they want to make sure that we have your video on the big screen during deer season when I'm in my deer blind and not there. I got it taken care of. It never fails that Crazy Josh gets mad at the rest of us at deer camp for making fun of the fact that he can't hunt worth crap and leaves a day early so he will be back here to set up the big screen. I love predictability! Im glad to see the guys getting some training in for walking the woods deer hunting. We have some of them jogging, a few riding exercise bikes , and we have Goofy Bob walking the stripper cut with two 30 packs of Busch Lite strapped to his back. Some of the guys are still trying to grab more deer ammo but I told them just to call Federal and say they are Hickok45 and we need a few thousand rounds of 45-70, 444 Marlin, 450 Marlin, and maybe 3 cases apiece of 12 gauge and 20 gauge sabots. We don't need ammo for Mad Max because, even after 22 years of him hunting with us, we still don't know what the hell that thing he shoots is. It makes a lot of noise, tons of smoke, and always causes him to curse a lot when he pulls the trigger. He always brings a deer back to camp but my theory is that he finds another hunter that got a deer, hits him over the head with the gun and steals the deer. We are going to have to find another cook for deer camp this year. Neighbor Ned always made breakfast, but he said his ex wife got the frying pan and the spatula during the divorce. She shouldn't have needed them because she was running around on him with the cook at the American Legion. Ned was going to go after him but we talked him out of it after explaining that he makes the best BBQ ribs and chicken in the county and we need a place to hang out at after Friday football games. Seriously, a marriage is important but a really good cook is priceless. Ned can always find another wife, but we can't always find a chef. That all being said, thanks for bringing out the 45-70 this morning. As I've said many times, it's my first choice for deer and my Marlin as just itching to get taken out to the field in a few weeks. And, of course, a lever action is the only " legitimate" way to hunt deer. BTW... Neighbor Ned said he can fix your target holder so it doesn't fall over all the time from muzzle blast. I'm sure it won't take him long to get parts to fix it. He normally just stops along the road and saves the metal that falls off his old pickup truck and uses the parts to fix things when he gets where he's going. He's thinks he can use his old rear quarter panel that flew off this morning to make you a nice target holder. And, don't worry that there is still a license plate attached to it. It came with the truck when he found it in the swamp 12 years ago. I was impressed with the Stoeger. I've shot quite a few Stoegers over the years and like their value. I actually enjoy taking my old coach gun 12 gauge out and playing at cowboy action shoots with it. Well, anyway... I need to get these guys and kids fed so they can get out on the range and fine tune their " deer harvesting machines." Thanks again for a great video. Have a wonderful day and God bless!

Yep, I’m 62 years old and I got spanked and paddled as a child, I deserved it every time I was. It wasn’t vengeful, spiteful or cruel. I deserved more than I got and I have no animosity about it. So yes, times and attitudes change. No one is perfect. We are all human, by default imperfect creatures. Those who would vilify others for their perceived transgressions should first be a little introspective.

I'm 34, but I caught the belt three times as a child. Once for yelling I was being kidnapped in a store as my parents were leaving. Once for dumping automotive grease all over the neighborhood, and once for starting a small fire in the backyard. I don't hold any hate to my parents because I understand I deserved a harsh punishment for my actions. Although I consider spanking to be the final word on a serious screw up. Reserved for when the kid does something completely out of line.

For those who support tougher gun laws, check out Chicago and their weekly body drop. The good folks like me jump through the hoops for a FOID card to purchase, take the 16-hour cc class to be able to carry ($175 for class plus $150 for 3 yr license). The lawmaker pukes in Illinois just keep making it more expensive to be legal, and the gangbangers are just stealing their firearms to avoid that process. Every day the news is full of no valid FOID! On a kinder, gentler note…that 45-70 is beautiful😍

Greg, you are an amazing shot! Love the lever action rifles. Can you maybe review the new Baretta M9A4 next? They just came out about 2 months ago, and they look like solid guns.

I was carrying around a BB gun and then a shotgun or a 22 rifle when I was ten or eleven. The only training I had was to shoot something and see that aiming a loaded firearm at something and pulling the trigger resulted in either the destruction or death of my target and I figured the rest out by myself.

Oh man,,,,, Dr Wild Man Hickock 45, how the heck did you time this video so perfectly on release the day I am having 45-70 govt withdrawal and on the hunt to find one in a Henry at any of my nearby Walmart just yesterday ( yes Walmart) I've passed up on two Golden Boys this summer thinking I'll have a chance later this year but so far none to be found) . And so here you are the next day with a video to pain me further on my hit and miss chance to buy and own one. Now I have to go hunting for one again today till I find one somewhere. The miles are accumulating fast on my truck and gas ain't cheap.
