Let's see a video on the new Taurus 856 defender, 3 inch heavy barrel with no key lock... Very similar to a S&W model 65 but this has a front night sight.

It’s hard to imagine not having a home right now. It’s such a weird time all around. These folks will need our help for a good Christmas. I feel fortunate to be concerned about finding ammunition to feed a new .357 magnum.

It was heartbreaking to see the damage out there from the tornado. I can't imagine building a business from the ground up and losing it in the blink of an eye... So terrible...

For what it's worth, Elmer passed in '84. I encourage anyone who can afford it, to contribute to one of the relief efforts for our fellow citizens who have had their lives turned upside down by this horrid weather event.

Listening to ol Hickok reminds me of when I’d sit on the porch talking to my dad. They both speak much the same way and for some reason that brings me great comfort since I lost my dad in 2016. Brings back fond memories listening to Hickok

Elmer Keith was born Mar 8, 1899, died Feb 14, 1984, and is buried in Salmon Id. Back in the late 90''s or early 2000's I went thru the Elmer Keith Museum they had set up for him in Salmon Id. before they moved it to Cabela's in Boise Id. I have a few of his books, but '' Hell I Was There '' is my favorite. It's a great book of his life ... a great read !

Wheel guns are my favorites too. Elmer Keith1899/1984 was the father of the 357Mag in 1935 and the 44Mag in 1956 and the 41Mag in 1963. And even though the Ruger Blackhawk was really the first to release a 44Mag, the Smith and Wesson has a much nicer fit and finish. The pinned and recessed models ended in 1981, deemed too costly to produce and served no propose. The 22LR are still recessed, as there is a purpose, protect the primer in the rim.

Yep, thanks. It IS interesting how as costs and competition increases, certain features of any product that engineers and designers originally saw a need for become "unnecessary" and "serve no purpose." :-)

Jimmy Stewart did have a wonderful life. He retired from the US Air Force May 31st 1968 as a brigadier general. In WWII he flew b-24s liberators and commanded the 703 bomb Squadron. and in England he had over 20 combat missions. He was the real deal

Just finished restoring my grandfather's 38 special model 10-6 made in 1967 service pistol. It was gutted, rusted, and of need of ❤️. Glade I did, it was a labor of love, but, very happy I could😊

Cool. That's a case where most people have no problem with restoration of an old firearm. Often it reduces the value of an antique firearm to restore it, depending on how bad it is, but with a family firearm, it's another thing. For example, I'd never have anything done to "improve" the finish on my old Colt Single Action revolvers, but if one of them had belonged to my great, great grandfather in 1885, I'd do whatever I wanted to make it the way I want it. Collectors value would be irrelevant, as with your grandfather's .38. The value lies in the fact that your grandfather carried it, not what some collector or reference book says it's worth.

Now I want to get to the range to exercise my 6.5" dash4, 629! It handles the magnums well but I still "download" my reloads to 44 special pressures. Thank you for another great Sunday video and Merry Christmas to you and yours.

We have huracanes...María, back in 2017 was devastated. We were prepared but not to the day after. I learned not to forget what we have been trained for...you know it's a bad side effect..."good times develop week men". I had to bring all knowledge from my Boy Scout to my military time and keep it present. Good video. Thanks for sharing 👍🏼

My heart goes out to those people who lost their lives, loved ones, and homes do to the tornado. It’s is really heart break breaking. We need to band together for those in need. It’s good to that neither snow nor rain, nor heat, nor storm of night keeps Hickok45 from shooting his guns“Whee Doggy!!!”

Lived at the lake outside Scottsville for a few years in the 90's. Worked in Bowling Green. I'm from PA and saw a few tornadoes while there. Unreal. Hit or miss damage, skipping hills, hail with spikes the size of softballs. Can't imagine what the good people of Kentucky are going through.

don't have the 44..but i do have a S&W 41 witha four inch barrel...kicks like a mule but i love to shoot it...when i can find ammo..even hard to find the reloading stuff for it...thank you again sir for taking me back to the days of talking and shooting with my grandfather.you're right..LIFE IS GOOD

a gun dirty harry would covet. i think if i add one revolver to my small gun collection it will be colt SAA but hickok does not have this dilemma. he just gets them all. life is good.

One of my favorite firearms to shoot. Nice shooting. I love the .44 magnum round. My favorite revolver to carry when I carry a revolver is my smith and wesson 4 inch barrel modle 69 combat .44 magnum. I love that gun. Sometimes i'll take out the S&W 686 7 shot .357 but I love the .44. I always have my little S&W 442 .38 special as one of my backup guns but yeah I love smith and wesson revolvers.

Defense against tornadoes is a bit like defense against crime: preparation is the key. Buy a gun, build a tornado shelter. Double up your tornado shelter as a fallout shelter, civil-unrest shelter, etc. Be sure to make it with a two foot thick wall to shield against gamma rays.

I dont think ammo prices will ever get back to normal. Seems the ammo manufacturers have wised up to the fact that they can charge higher prices & make more profit even with the increased cost of labor & materials. 22lr & Nato rounds will probably come down a bit more. I see a shift away from 40s&w for new guns. The 45acp & revolver rounds will probably never get back to decent prices. Chalk some of it up to "inflation" as well... I hope we wont be stuck with steel & aluminum for a long long time.

Nothing less than a 6 inch barrel for a 44 magnum for me. Both of mine are 8 1/4 ". The night of that storm we got 7 inches of snow and 60 mph winds. A couple days later Minnesota had the first recorded tornados in December.

Yep, once you get under six inches on a .44 Mag, you'd better be ready to be "stung." :-)

I have a modle 69 combat .44 magnum with a 4.25 inch barrel. It's fairly light too being a 5 shot but it's not unpleasent to shoot standard magnum loads. I think under 4 would be pushing it plus I think it may start to lose some velocity after that. My modle 686 7 shot .357 has a three inch barrel and it makes for a good carry revolver if there is such a thing but it would be nice to have that extra inch. My ruger redhawk .44 magnum with the 7.5 barrel is a great gun to shoot but it's a lot of gun to carry.

The capable and powerful .44 Remington magnum cartridge. In revolver configuration there is by design some loss of pressure due to cylinder/barrel clearance. Held to minimum by quality tolerance factors. But it is impossible to seal entirely so keep hand clear of area when firing. An interesting derivative of this loading is the potent .444 Marlin. An excellent choice for wild boar 🐗 As it has superb stopping power and comes in a beautiful lever gun configuration from Marlin firearm company. Temporarily out of production but perhaps the Ruger corporation may revive the platform.

The model 19 is a K frame, a very nice easy to carry revolver. The model 27 is an N frame.

Pulled one of my 29’s , probably twenty years old “ One of a Thousand “ . Smoothest 29 I’ve ever owned. Hickok, enjoyed last week’s #102, your single action Colt. Seeing the beautiful stag grips reminded me. I purchased another set of grips for my second generation Colt . They need to be fitted and I can’t find anyone I can trust to fit them. Yours were fitted by Colt. Can I send mine to Colt and pay them to fit them? Your Colt is a beauty! Thanks for showing it to us!

If I had to describe a Tornado to someone I would compare it to a weedeater; a giant weedeater. Leveling everything in it's path, and leaving everything outside it's path untouched. Our sincerest sympathies to all those who were in the path of this one.

I think shooting a revolver is probably one of my favorite things to do. Watching you shoot one makes me want to go shoot mine. I am very thankful to have a range at my house. Not quite as nice as yours, but I can shoot out to 1500 yards so that is kinda nice. Thanks for another enjoyable Sunday morning video.👍
