The anime glossing over Sung's exploration & subsequent excitement over learning that his new abilities are real and not him being schizo was a real mistake. It's little things like this that not only build the world, but also put into perspective how everything works and how the power scales, and it makes Sung's actions and thoughts much more relatable

I liked how the anime showed how desperate and in pain Sung Jinwoo was. Then once he wakes up and sees that his body is all good, you can see how hopeful he is for the change to reawakened, which I thought was pretty funny. and the fact that he got weaker adds more to the situation. The part about Jinnah crying makes me think about a part later in the story right before the Jeju island arc. I also like the added scene of the nurses looking for the missing Sung Jinwoo. The news outlet really did make it feel like the world was used to the gates and shows how fast people adapt to even the weirdest of situations, it really added a lot to the world for me. I would love to hear more about how Sung Jinwoo interacted with the system early on, how he is changed by the system, and how the system works. I like the idea of him seeing the system and him thinking that it's just his brain playing tricks on him. The centipedes were crazy and I would have liked to see how the nurses tried to rationalize how Sung Jinwoo disappeared and then came back with a bunch of sand.

One thing you left out was that in the manwha they found him actually still on the alter. In the anime he was just on the ground

Having sungs first instant dungeon start out with goblins instead of the wolves right away seemed interesting maybe they wanted to do a bit more progressing. Also the one punch man training reference was a nice easter egg.

Shadow's appearance at the mention of a nuke is the equivalent of Dan Forden saying, "TOASTY!" in Mortal Kombat.

MC at this moment in the story is famous for being "The Weakest Hunter" and that has given Sung a complex about strength. Right now, he is obsessed with growing stronger. Stronger = strength. Every time something bad happens to Sung he starts planning on how to avoid that happening the next time. Sung won't keep being obsessed with strength for long, because he is about to learn more painful lessons. That is just how Sung learns.

A-1 really knocked episode 4 out of the park. It's insane what they were able to do without the help of CG, and I hope you continue doing this series.

If you guys have spotify premium, you can listen to the light novels for solo leveling for free. I've been doing it for over a month now. Light novel has alot more details imo. Like they skipped jinwoo trying out the points to see if it was actually increasing his strength. He even makes a mistake the 1st time because he forgets to test his strength before and after the points are added.

I am anime only but I did like how it was portrayed in the anime with him not taking the system seriously. Only to be thrusted into to a life and death instance. It got the message across loud and clear that this thing (they system) needs to be taken seriously.

iT's benn a while since a release of a anime make anxious about the next episode! I guess the last one ws overlord first season. So consider the last two episodes, i have high hoppes for this one! Great works with the vídeos!

I don't know if the physical copies of the light novel have more content or what, but Jinah tells Jinwoo she left school in the middle of class when the hospital told her he woke up. In the anime she's on the way to school with her friend. In the light novel the school had only excused her for a while but not the entire day so she has to cut the visit short. During the visit Jinwoo has a whole internal monolog about how disappointed he is in himself for ever giving up on surviving The Temple and leaving his sister alone to take care of their mother. He tells her he started playing a new game and needed help opening unread messages and that's what he was doing before she walked in, not whatever nonexplanation he gave in the anime. (Jinah also tries to ask him what game it is, and if she can play it with him, it's very cute.) Jinwoo also escorts Jinah to the elevator before he rushes to check the newly opened inbox. Being a good brother before weird system craziness. The anime seems to be dedicated to making Jinah and the E rank girl close friends so I guess they cut all of that to continue building the association between these two. I'm kinda sad they're cutting out Jinwoo's main motivators and connections in the story just to flesh out a character that stops showing up almost immediately after she stops being relevant. But maybe they have plans for a later scenario at the school, so I'll just have to wait and see.

my question is why didn't sung do physical training before he got the system? he could have been like asta and trained to compensate for his lack of hunter skills/potential

with this episode we confirm that they did not change the nation thankfully, the train stations seem to be korean

I'd argue the nurse scene was a good addition; it tells us that his disappearance is REAL; not a dream and/or delusion. He "realizes" that his visitors, also hunters, can't see the screens, so without some external the viewer can't be sure that this isn't some delusion (or even a fantasy flashing through his eyes as he's about to die). But because we see characters who do things the protagonist doesn't know about, this suggests he's not in a fantasy as he can't be unaware of things he's dreaming. Furthermore, because the nurses can't find him, we're lead to believe that he does, in fact, disappear. It's logically possible, of course, that he disappears to someone else his experiences while there are a fantasy, but there's no reason to believe this. The nurses recognizing he's gone also serves to raise the tension, as they are early witnesses to his strange circumstances; of course nothing comes of this... but the viewer doesn't know nothing comes of this; so in future episodes where he's worried about falsifying his rank the anime-only viewer has more to worry about than manga-only readers.

This was the episode that Sung Jinwoo vowed to never simp again.
