Sunk Hyde Drift Boat

Күн бұрынBack in July of 2020, we responded to a boat rescue in Cardiac Canyon on the Henrys Fork. This dangerous situation could have easily been avoided. Be careful when you go where you don't know and obey the signs.

I applaud the people for sticking with the situation and getting the boat free. However... this is a rescue situation and the PPE is here is woefully inadequate. I highly recommend taking a Swiftwater Rescue class. It covers all the skills you need for precisely this situation.

A friend had a 14 foot aluminum drift boat he hadn't put any flotation in yet so it sunk he got a tow truck to pull it out to heavy so he pulled out his 357 and shot it full of holes it slowly drained and it was pulled out

Looks like a that was quite the project. Good job getting that boat out of the river. The gunnels on that boat look super low compared to any drift boat I have rowed(I have only ran cascade and coastal rivers in the NW). Is there a rational behind that as it seems like a good way to get into this exact situation?

These boats are designed to be low to allow the passengers to easily get in and out. Only had this happen once. These inexperienced bozos promised to pay for the damage but did not. They did not pay for these people to rescue the boat either.

The guys that swamped the boat, Kyle Swallow and his friend ended up not paying for the repairs to the boat.
