Today in the world of 'printer unboxing and first impressions' series we have the Sunlu S8 3D printer. I've had this one sat waiting to be unboxed for a while now. Is it worth the wait? We shall see...
As usual, in this video, I show you what you can expect out of the box, demonstrate the assembly and give a few first comments on the printer.
This printer has an RRP of $200, but they often have deals and coupons. There was a spin the wheel discount when I visited the site, came out at around £130! Quite a bargain for the size.
I hope you enjoy the video, don't forget to LIKE and SUBSCRIBE :D
Spec check:
- Build Volume: 310 x 310 x 400mm
- Dual Z-Axis Support Rods
- Mostly Pre-assembled (you'll see from the video this is true!)
- Upgraded Glass Bed
- Bowden
- Filament Run out sensor

A1: print quality (of course the assumption this is a mid-price printer) A2: roller bearing spool bottom supported type that sits on table A3: non-UK resident but just for fun, will go for 2500g

1. Good shout, this certainly is important. I'm planning to make a sort of benchmark print test to start using in reviews. Might make it easier to compare printers in the future. 2. Lots of people love the rollers, I've used in the past, but rarely so much anymore. 3. Always fun to guess:D

A1: i went for a ender3 s1 printer purely on price as it had £110 off. (This is my first and only printer) A2: i like my spool holder attached due to space and it looks more tidy imo A3: my guess is 1.2kg. I think you have a kilo of filament and I'm guessing 200g for the plastic spools🤞 How do i get your reusable spools do i have to buy them or do they come with filament? Good show and good luck everybody👏👍😎🇬🇧

1.Nice! £110 off is quite a saving, sounds like a good buy. 2.Yep, got to make use of as much space as possible, I've been known to use many a whacky solution to hold filament to make the most of space #efficiency 3. Thanks for the guess:) In terms of the re-usable spools, I presume you mean the MasterCore Spool System? If so, they're available both on Amazon UK and the 3DTomorrow website on the same page as the MasterCore UK PLA. Will also make just the flanges available on their own too, so you could make the printable parts yourself, good way to use up those last bits of filament. While we're on the topic of re-usable, all spools are technically re-usable, well re-fillable anyway. So if you prefer the convenience of pre-spooled filament, you can always opt to just send spools back as part of the 'Spool Buyback Program'. Happy to send links to anything you'd like to know more about.

I just ordered one of these and it looks like they changed the spool holder, it now mounts on top of the printer. At least according to the pictures on the site.

Often the case with the overseas printers, constantly making small tweaks! Sometimes for the better, other times I think it is to assist with component sourcing.

@@CallumColes yes, I know I am wrong due to packaging and spool weights, but I can’t help putting an answer in, another great video, this printer is of interest to me so looking forward to your review.
