My question is "do I really need this item? or should it really be given to someone else?" - I might use six cooking pans in a year but frankly I only need two pans. And I know a group that outfits people going into housing, those people really need things.

So true! Asking yourself "Does someone else need this more than me?" helps a lot when decluttering ✌🏼

These are excellent rules. I use them all. My very favorite (also the first one I learned) is “Get rid of everything that you don’t know to be useful or believe to be beautiful “. A whole bunch of memorabilia went into file 13 as a result of that one.

I have a separate phone for life and apps. It helps me mute/ignore the apps so I can create time to focus on important tasks.

That's sounds great! Do you keep both phones with you all the time or switch between them?

One in one out is my favorite now that I've decluttered.

Maybe the best practice that I've learned from minimalism is the one in one out rule. 😅. Whenever i bought something new, i must take something out from my possession.my son had so many clothes he outgrown and once i buy new clothes for him, i would take all of his old clothes. What's good is i donate it to those kids in our area and it soo good seeing them smile at me. Donating your things is sooo heart warming. ❤

Im doing a digitising project too, but its not safe to have only one copy- cloud if you must, but also on either a usb/ drive synced in case of emergencies. Speak of emergencies- i rarely see people doing the basics of a emergency bag, even minimalists. I would really like to see a minimalist take on emergency response/ prep

For the "only touch everything once" rule I have a different approach. I like to keep a box, where I put all items I am thinking if I should get rid off, but I am not certain of my decision for some reason. I just put those in the box and then I will see in the next days, weeks or months if those really were needed. It helps me to make easier decisions.

Sounds great! Yeah I did a similar experiment with clothes and it worked wonders. I could try something like this with everything else too in the future. Thanks for the idea 👏

I definitely dont agree with a lot of minimalist content on the "only have one"- basic prep/ survival rule of "two is one, one is none" Yes have an intentional inventory, though i struggle with the assumption of privilege of being able to buy something if you need it

I think keeping basic emergency items is super important and part of minimalism - it declutters your mind when you know you are covered. I think this is important especially in places with hurricanes, earthquakes, etc. But with for example hiking boots, earbuds, or laptops, I definitely don't need more than one. Hope this clarifies my thoughts🪴

I know b-roll is a lot of work, you might consider just talking, the concepts dont need b-roll illustrations.

Yeah it can be time-consuming. Luckily, I have been documenting my life for so many years I don't have to refilm tens of new clips for every video. But I'm glad to hear the videos are good enough even without added b-roll. Thank you! 😊

Instead of asking myself: do I really need this item? I ask myself: can I live without it? That helps to prioritise.
