A former Target Canada employee here (truck unloader). The guys hit it on the head about how fucked everything was. Best story was an American manager came down during set-up for the store and was trying to push us to get used to upselling and handling the 'flow' (the shelving space for each item). He made an... interesting gesture and told us to 'roll the dice'. The gesture, of course, looked much like someone beating their meat before flinging the liquid into the listener's face. Needless to say, the next week was spent with the employees helpfully reminding each other to 'roll the dice'.

the difference seems to be the competitive attitude. it seems to me, and correct me if i'm wrong, that in the states, they don't give a shit what the customer thinks. it's a competition between the people selling on the floor, it's not about the person buying it beyond what tactics work best against what types of people. whereas, here in canada, that attitude simply isn't present. i'm not saying they aren't competitive or that they care about the customers, it's just that the attitude of "i don't care who you are, i'mma sell you this teapot and brag to everyone in the back about how many i did today" isn't there.

As someone enslav- er, Employed at Target, I can say that the only thing Target fucking cares about is selling those fucking Credit cards. The team leads constantly remind us to sell them (every 10 minutes) and getting pulled in the office if we don't sell enough of them daily isn't uncommon. It drives me fucking crazy.

I live in Minnesota and haven't had to deal with much upselling, yea they ask the typical "Do you have our card?" or "Would you like to add this?" but as soon as you say no, they drop it and move on because they really don't give a shit. When i worked at pizza hut my manager only 1 time said "Hey, try to sell some of this, we accidentally made a couple we weren't supposed to" and i asked like 3 people that called if they wanted to add one and didn't bother trying to convince them and at the end of the time limit he put on us we had sold none and he just said "Alright, well, guess no one wanted any right now, no sense throwing them out, anyone want one?" and it was fucking delicious.

Target sucks in the US. Sure they're always stocked and the employees are alright. But the prices are high, the clothing looks cheap and is cheap. And it always reeks of fucking popcorn and butter.
@Solqueen868 жыл бұрын
+Tempest Wing There is a theory/fact why people buy at Target visually over Walmart even if the prices are crazy As you know Target is red while Walmart is blue Red seems to have less significant negatives than blue. Like a red tag sale so we go in with the mind set that it's everything cheaper and every time I go there I think that but then I go to Walmart and see a item that was at Target is much lower. As for Walmart they blue because it's calming but us Americans are so uses to see red as symbolism for sales or close down sales we go to Target. The few times I go to target is when I know chances are they knocked down something because it's not selling and fucking up the price so you get a steal. I mean I got a 24 box of La Croix for $0.67...24 cans of La Croix for 0.67 cent instead of $9 or 10 bucks no wonder the stock were almost empty! But Matt is right the food is great especially when they knock down the price on things like frozen chicken wings that normally would be $10 a bag at Walmart down to 5.99 but their clothes sucks and have no good sizes!

Limpnormal The problem is that most the people who think they're "Responsible enough as a gun owner" aren't. And besides that their demand for ease of access to guns makes it easier for psychos, the mentally unfit, and criminals to get their hands on them.

The gun laws are one of the major drawbacks of Canada. It sucks we're more likely to have more gun laws, meaning we're more likely to have police powers expanded and more people victimized by them than we are the stuff that actually decreases violent crime like universal health care or full, unionized employment.

America's obsession with guns is genuinely frightening. You'd think the sheer amount of gun deaths America experiences a year would make them rethink their relationship with guns.
@screwthepresent96308 жыл бұрын
+SpeedBoost Go by percentile. 'Sheer amount' means nothing, considering that Canuckistan has literally 1/10th the population. Interestingly enough, the gunnier it gets in the States the safer it gets. New Hampshire and Wyoming have astonishingly low crime rates by percentile.
@NormalLee678 жыл бұрын
+SpeedBoost At this point, all gun restrictions would do is make it harder to combat crime. The people who get their guns illegally (by purchasing guns outside of stores where it is legal to do so, as well as even buying guns that are straight-up illegal for citizens to own) are still going to get their guns illegally. All restrictions would do is make it harder for law-abiding citizens who would use guns responsibly (i.e. either strictly for hunting purposes or just in case of a home invasion of some kind) to get said guns, meaning armed criminals would more often than not be met with less resistance if they decided to rob/kidnap/murder/etc. somebody, and the amount of innocent people injured or killed in gun-related incidents would likely increase rather than decrease.
@Yal_Rathol7 жыл бұрын
+screwthepresent yes, canuckistan has 1/10th (or less) the population. but america has 10 times the gun crime rate. that's not an equivalent number. if we had 1/10th the population and 1/10 the gun death, that would make sense. instead, we have, per capita, 2.3 gun deaths per year, you have 10.2 per 100 000 people. so if guns keep people safe, why does the country with the most guns not have the lowest crime rate? perhaps there's a logic flaw somewhere?
@Yal_Rathol7 жыл бұрын
+guantanamo bae to quote jon stewart, "we must do everything in our power to protect the american people, unless it's creating a law that criminals would break!" much of gun death is due to panicked or contagious fire. basically, untrained idiots who think having a gun gives them instant hero status shooting at what they think is a bad guy or a home invader, and it's the neighbor out for a walk, or a random dude with some smarties in his hand. somehow, i think controlling guns would decrease those sorts of gun violence. this is a pointless argument anyway, your country is too blinded by the love of firearms to ever change the rules, so nothing i say can or will change your mind or the minds of your countrymen.
