Also, if you ever have trouble with transmission or reception, check the antenna connection. They loosen up easily. Some blue Lok-tite might be the ticket, or possibly electrical tape.

No if you ever have trouble with transmission and reception It's the "Ghost Antenna"I don't know why they make it it's one of the worst and ugliest antennas I've ever had!
@dmwil12 жыл бұрын
Great radio and I did mine in a similar fashion. Warning: The Rugged Radio antenna mount WILL break, eventually. As the bend stresses over time it weakens and it'll break right off, as happened to mine. There are clones on Amazon that are stronger and less expensive. Win/win! Btw, the ghost antenna may not cause it to break so soon, since it does not move so much in the wind. But its reception is terrible in that location, as it is blocked by the Jeep's body and windshield frame. A longer Midland 6db antenna works much better and will get you miles more range.

I don't know why everyone likes that ghost antenna but I don't the one I have is the MXTA 26 6 b gain you get lower swr and twice the range and it's preset by midland and the price for the License IS $35 NOW check with the FCC you'll see it is $35 for 10 years

I think your ghost antenna is too low. That will impact radio range. The mount you have is suited for a taller antenna. The top of the antenna should be higher than the roof line. Check out where other Jeep’s have installed their ghost antennas. All the best!
@MoreDirtMoreDistance2 жыл бұрын
Yeah the instructions say to get the antenna as high as possible. I checked out range videos and for my purposes the range is fine where I have it mounted. I haven’t had any issues. If I find that it becomes an issues i can always move it. Thanks.

I had that ghost antenna as far as I know it's still in the creek where I through it I hated it and I DON'T recommend it it's got high SWR which will burn out your radio and you won't get to much range with that stupid little piece of junk!Get the MXTA 26 It's a 6 db gain I've been using it since 2017 and I highly recommend it so if you want extended range in case you need it don't get the ghost antenna or you'll regret getting it.
