VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
This video is divided into two sections. Section 1 covers some interesting traps in the London System, that I also covered in more detail in the linked video above. Section 2 covers the round 6 match of the 2023 World Chess Championship between GM Ian Nepomniachtchi and GM Ding Liren. This is an ongoing chess match to determine the new World Chess Champion. The match is taking place in Astana, Kazakhstan, from 9 April to 30 April 2023, and will be a best of 14 games, plus tiebreaks if required.
Each game has a time control of 120 minutes for the first 40 moves for each player, 60 minutes for the next 20 moves, and 15 minutes for the rest of the game, with a 30 second increment starting at move 61. The incumbent champion, Magnus Carlsen, decided not to defend his title against Ian Nepomniachtchi, the winner of the Candidates Tournament in 2022. Therefore, Nepomniachtchi is playing the match's second-place finisher, Ding Liren.
