One decently effective dog feeder! At the cost of three fingers!

The anxiety level when the knife to wrist ratio maxed out!! Your trust in yourself and the use of a basic knife is noteworthy. Good feeder idea though! Think I’ll use a jigsaw to make my cuts, I don’t have that level of knife confidence.😅

So glad I found this. Going on vacation and needed a way to make sure my dogs have food even though I have family checking on them daily. Now they only have to come every other day.

I made one, thanks man good stuff. The only thing I did differently was use zipties instead of cutting out those strips and put a weight on top of the whole thing cuz my dog is clumsy. 😂

Very enjoyable weekend Slash your hand and finger project, very good.--
I just went in my garage and replicated you design. Except, I use the bottom bowl of my cat feeder, instead of making a bowl. I also used my angle grinder to make the cuts, instead of a knife. Thanks !!!

I suggest you make the bowl half first. It seems it would be easier to cut the hole to match that than it was to make the bowl to match the hole.

Seems doable. I wonder if adding the extra bucket half on top would make it hold a bit more. I free-feed my pets and I'd love to be able to have the entire bag of food in the dispenser at once instead of having to have an extra container to store the leftovers.

Aside from the risk of losing a finger or 2 using a knife, I'd say this would be pretty good. I'd probably use some sort of crafting cutter tool or something.

1:49 you need a serrated knife to cut the plastic faster, it's much easier. It also works great on softer plastics and rubber.

I have nine dogs and this will be amazing for all nine I recently made a water one just like that but with a bucket and a cat litter pan will you make a hole in inside a bucket and then it fills into the cat litter pan and then it fills up a little bit past the hole and it stops water flow and it’s basically an automatic water bowl just like dog bowl

@wildfireflyyyify3 жыл бұрын
Dogs that are not fed free choice have a “starving dog” mentality. They never know when their next meal is going to arrive so they constantly eat everything they can. When dogs switch over to being fed as it would come naturally to them in the wild - they self regulate as they realize the food is always available and not being held hostage by humans.

I have been wondering how you were going to have a way to keep all the food from falling out of the top bucket and then you show the lid which is bigger than the bucket inside. That takes up half the inside of the bucket that is meant for food. There is a better way to do this. I was also going to ask if this can be done with the five gallon water jugs - until I saw that you wasted a lot of space with the lid. Since you still have a lot of the other bucket, take about half to three quarters of the side of the other bucket and cut one side rounded, the other side straight. Start at the top of the opening you cut for the food to come out and tape it or glue it - (on the side the food is not in contact with) - going down until you get a slant going toward the back. There should be at least three inches for the food to fall through. This way you will utilize more space for the food to be in the bucket and it will not all fall out too quickly. This reminds me of the chicken feeder I have in the chicken run. It holds over five gallons of grain. Let me know if I helped.

Whats the point if it doesent regulate how much my dog eats and just keeps the dog full?? Why not just put everything in a massive bowl in that case???
@wildfireflyyyify3 жыл бұрын
Why regulate your dog? Animals are not regulated in the wild and they know how much to eat - domestic or wild.
@bwhsculinaryarts2 жыл бұрын
Some dogs know when to push back from the table. When we have to leave for a few days our boy paces himself. He only eats when he's hungry and that's normally at night or late evening. He's a big healthy German Shepherd.

If it keeps the bowl full - then wouldn't this be the same as just leaving an open sack of dog biscuits or large container on the floor 🤔
@inspectorsteve22873 жыл бұрын
The problem with this is it's easy for your dogs to over eat and get sick, fat, or worse due from something called bloat. Dogs who eat to fast this is not good for them at all. You need something that gives out portion control. You can do something like this for water. That's ok.
@wildfireflyyyify3 жыл бұрын
Most large dogs do not over eat fed free choice. They eat when hungry.
