I love the idea of playing chords on base, but in my opinion, I actually don’t think you should play the chord on a bass. it’s a rhythm instrument more than it is a lead instrument like a guitar. So you are playing G major instead of playing three frets at the same time if the guitarist plays it three times play the notes to complement it.
