The Barista Express™ is equipped with a feature that allows for a dryer puck when it is removed after extraction. There is a small valve in the group head that sucks up a bit of the excess water. Unfortunately, with that water is coffee oils and possible grounds. In order to keep this valve working correctly and optimally, it is required it be cleaned periodically. The CLEAN ME light that comes on indicates when it is time to run this cleaning cycle.

thanks for the video- for 10 years I had this model ( with the square coffee bean compartment on top) and doing this process the water comes down through the handle as if u make an espresso.( the little rubber thingy has a tiny hole) After that machine died after 10 years I bought a new machine (with the round coffee bean compartment on top) and I was completely irritated that in the cleaning mode no water came out “the usual way” and already thought something was wrong. Then I saw your video! Thanks again for taking the time making this video. BTW - I really love the cappuccino this machine makes- not any different from having one in Italy! really! and my last machine lasted 10 years- hope this one will be as durable as well!

Fore some reason, when I do the flush cycle (Barista pro), the water still comes out through the filter basket, not the back. So the water and cleanser appears to not be back flushing. Hi Hoon, does your rubber cleaning pad have a hole in the middle or is it completely solid? I have Sage barista express and it has a small hole in the middle right below tablet and when I do the clean cycle, I'm having quite a mess from the front, tablet goes through portafilter outside (and some also from the back to the tray). Not sure if it's ok

Hoon, I have watched your videos and they are outstanding! I'm trying to clean my Breville, same model as the one in this video, but having problems I use the one cup double wall basket with the Amazon purchased Espresso Cleaning Disc for Select Breville Espresso Machines, Breville Accessories for Espresso Machine, 54mm Backflush Disc for Espresso Makers Comparable to Breville Part BES870XL/11.2 Rubber Disks--it looks the same as yours. I've followed all the steps in your video, but the rubber disc is not working properly as the water flows straight through the basket, and does not backflow. Suggestions? Thanks Don

Hi, thank you so much for sharing. This is definitely helpful. I followed your steps and it's easily done. :) one quick question - now when I finish the cleaning cycle, the "clean" light is still on, but it's not flashing. @@HoonsCoffee Heh, sounds familiar. I had one other question. I am an owner os a small IT consulting company so I have lots of flexibility. My goal for a barista express is that when I have time I can make some good coffee. and when I have to run out to a client at 6am I can just make a quick doubleshot. I used to have a keurig which is fast and convenient but the coffee stinks. the BE seems a nice fit between being able to make good coffee when I have time and still a good espresso shot when I'm short on time. Would you agree?

Hello friends. I have a question. The third time my portafilter exploded under the pressure and left a mess (coffee on the wall and furniture, everywhere) but I turned it well to the right in the direction of 'Lock'. Does anyone have experience with it? I see that the seal has already been used up a bit. Turning on new poetry is enough and clears the problem? Greetings to all

Hi Hoon, great videos - thanks. I have an issue with my machine though - I followed the instructions to the letter but when I start the cleaning process (pressing all three buttons) the pressure builds up and within a few seconds after the water starts to flow through the portafilter and group head the arrow on the pressure gauge shoots up and there is a mini 'explosion'. Water then flows over the sides of the portafilter. If I leave the machine on the cleaning process (with the portafilter in place) water flows over the sides and makes a fabulous mess in the kitchen ! When making coffees, it's also started to do the same thing - pressure builds up and then there is a much smaller 'explosion' and water comes over the side of the portafilter. Any ideas ??? Thanks in advance. Haggis/Col
@ExploringWithChristopher2 жыл бұрын
you figure it out? im having the same issue
@Haggis.Supper2 жыл бұрын
@@ExploringWithChristopher yep, it was a faulty O ring. I contacted Breville and they sent me a couple of replacements. Relatively easy to change - there are a couple of KZfaq videos that explain it. Seems to be a relatively common issue. Good luck.
Question. For the plastic gray thing that you put in the to host the cleaning tablet? Where do you get that? Thank you

Speaking merely as a Barista owner who thinks your instruction is Not Quite Technical enough - I'm Sure you Mean well, but Not so sure how Much you Really Know about the Inner-workings of the machine, and lets face it, That's the Most Important Part of giving Instructions on Anything isn't it.
