Thanks so much, Hoon. For five years I've been using your instructions. You're my guide Keep up the good work. I'm living in GA, and appreciate your continuous commitment to getting smarter on coffee. I drink espresso from morning until evening. Let us know what you think about the effects of coffee on the human body. It keeps me alert and alive. My grandfather and dad drank coffee all their life, morning to evening, and lived and live over 90. They never drank alcohol though, just I don't drink alcohol since my friend died because of a drunk driver. Coffee is my motto to live long and with all our senses.

Hi All. I have a BES875 (ie the one that doesn't have the '/descale' light feature). Can anyone advise me: does it have an aluminium or stainless boiler? Can I use a citric+sulphamic descaler? Many thanks in advance. UPDATE: I've read below that there isn't boiler per se but supposedly Sage/Breville describe it as a 'stainless steel water path'. I've also looked up the descaler Hoon uses. Amazon - or the supplier - unhelpfully don't tell you what's actually in the descaler but someone, in the questions/answers section, has answered: 'According to the MSDS, in the bottle it’s 7-10% citric acid and 3-7% sulfamic acid'. So therefore the descaler I use - Dezcal powder which is mainly citric and the rest sulphamic - looks like it pretty much matches Hoon's descaler.

Can I use Urnex Dezcal powder to descale?
@simonvadboncoeur14403 жыл бұрын
hi Hoon, I just learned that the brew group is made out of aluminum (the water dispenser) it's the part just under the shower screen. so that means cafiza shouldn't be used with this machine since it's not recomended with aluminum :( and if product like dezcal are used we shouldn't let the water out from the brew head since it would be in contact with aluminum and this product is also not compatible with aluminum. By the way I really enjoy your videos. keep the good work it's really nice to see you do these videos.

Hi, do you know or have any recommendations to clear the water dispenser? I mean the little tube where you serve just hot water (to make your expresso an americano, for example), cause mine very is covered by salinization (I assume, even if I do the clean ups) and almost no water comes out.
@kdiverdown2 жыл бұрын
my machine just turns on when I hold down the 2 cup button then hold the power. and if I keep holding, it dispenses the 2 cup dose, and the clean button is not flashing or even on.
@kdiverdown2 жыл бұрын
is that because I tried this cycle right after I did the clean pellet so the "clean me" light wasn't on? I didn't realize that the "solid on" meant descaling was needed... I just commenced with the tablet ... so then when I realized solid meant I was supposed to descale- I tried that.

when you do a rinse, use the hot water spigget , or steam wand, you are still using the Boiler .........therefore they create scale and can damage the machine .
@WBC323 жыл бұрын
this machine does not have a boiler, its a heat exchange so this is the ideal way to descale it
@milovacc11953 жыл бұрын
@@WBC32 you are incorrect . the barista express has a single stainless steel boiler with a thermocoil and has PID temperature control . look it up !
@WBC323 жыл бұрын
@@milovacc1195 Yes you are correct. However its not a boiler in the Silvia sense. Sage describe it as "1850W Thermocoil-Integrated stainless steel water path" but I guess you can call that a boiler of sorts. I descale my Sage machine this way, it has the upgraded filter system so does not have the descale light. I've had my machine for 1 year now and I do a clean cycle every month along with a descale rinse. I change out the filter every 3 months. Am I doing this wrong? I don't want to damage it.
@milovacc11953 жыл бұрын
@@WBC32 the 870 has a built in shot count , so as long as you respect the schedule provided the machine which is 200 shots or spiget/steam uses , you should be fine .

Everyone should be using distilled water or at the very least, reverse osmosis water (purified) in their coffee machine. Tap water has so many horrible chemicals in it that wreck havoc on your machine. I have never had to descale my machine due to only using distilled water. After 4 years of having it, this is my first time doing it and it’s only a precaution more than anything else. Distilled water will keep your machine lasting forever, and not to mention ; brew the best tasking espresso you’ve ever had. You’re welcome!
