Hi, Dani. Thank you so much for this pattern. It is amazing. I cant wait to make one of these. There is something about it that I noticed however. When you start to 'purl' from the back on the 2nd row of you pattern to stick the needle from the bottom up. This is not a purl, it is a knit. A purl stitch is when we stick the needle from the top of the loop to grab the yarn out of the loop. A knit stitch is sticking the needle from the bottom of the loop and grab the yarn to pull it down and out. The knit stitch that you did were simple backwards knit stitch. Please let know if you agree with this. I am a beginner, but I observe very carefully as I am really trying to be good at it. Thanks and congratulations on your big success.

I LOVE the way you decreased this hat. It looks so much better than the decrease I learned. Which was to decrease 10 times with equal amounts of stitches in between then a round of no decrease, then 10 decreases, then no decreases. It makes the hats look too round and baggy, which isn’t always a good look for certain patterns.

So row one is different from row 2 right? Row one is purl from front loop. Row two is purling from back loop. Do you repeat row 2 until desired length of 44 rows?

I am new to knitting but I am a bit confused. The 1st row with your purl stitches I thought the yarn is supposed to be wrapped around the needle the opposite direction of the way you are doing so.... Maybe I was taught wrong. Your way looks easier but I keep looking at other videos to compare and they all seem to wrap the purl stitch around counter clockwise.

You would have to check what is the category of the yarn you’re using. I have patterns for both, category 5 and 6 yarn on my blog that you can check. If you’re using double strand try making the pattern for the bulky weight yarn (category 5).
@marianimer8440

Dani, a question about the sizes. In your written version, you used a 9mm for the super bulky and a 6.5 mm for the bulky. You’re using a 10mm here in the video. Which needles do I go by? (Solo tengo uno de 8mm y 9 mm.)

There wouldn't be a difference grabbing the back side of the stitch rather than the front when purling, right?
@_sumina
@_sumina 4 жыл бұрын
im not 100% sure what you mean, but i think you're saying that if the string from your ball of yarn is in the back of your right neddle while purling it doesnt make a difference? if thats it then, it actually does make a difference! it makes a different stitch (forgot what the name is) but yeah, I suggest you always bring your yarn to the front when you purl because thats how you purl ☺️ hope my jumbled sentences make sense! if not i could just look up how to purl and watch like 6 videos until you finally get it 😆

It would have been helpful to know as a beginner that you need to get needles with a short wire between them. You don’t mention this at any point and only realised after a casting on I was no where near the other needle. 😣

The easiest part is probably adding the little poof to the top, but I always seem to mess it up somehow. The whole thing can look great then I add the poof and .. it's no longer great 😁😭 Wondering if when adding a poof, do you do it before you pull the whole top in? After? And any tips at all or videos on this? Thank you in advance!!

Hello, in the video your decrease order is different than your written pattern. In the video your 1st row decrease is k1, k2tog & continue k2tog. In the written pattern your 1st row is K1, [dec, K1], repeat all the way around. Which is correct? Also, if I do more than 3 decrease rows, do I repeat decrease steps 1-3? Thank you.
