There is nothing better than knowing you have the trust of a wild animal. We use to feed the wild lorikeets at a place we use to live at when I was a child and I used to get them to come in the house and my neighbor said why don't you catch them (he was an adult) and I said to him,...because they trust me. He has always said to this day that made him tear up as I was only about 9 years old at the time.

@francisconti90852 жыл бұрын
@@jaimep3432 we always are, we usually don't realize what we are passively "saying" .. it's just like body language & eye contact, you know when you have developed rapport, when you have irritated, when someone is scared, excited, etc..when someone gives you that look of "DUDE! WTF!" Or: "wtf dude?" Deer have very communicative mannerisms, and take ours very seriously, what we call micro expressions they use primarily. They learn our "tones" too, they do have vocalizations, more contact calls and alarms, not like is.far as deer are concerned, they'd rather we stay hush, they like quiet to hear anything sneaking up. When you see scrapes, rubs, gnawed branches, squatted crap pile , they are saying " my territory" Scent is huge form af awareness & communication to deer.. *By scent trail, touching plants they've marked I can acknowledge them, like saying, "yo, saw you were here", by following an individual deer's routine path, touching thingss along the way I can "say" I was looking for you." I can wait in a location nd make a noise, & they'll come out.. So ya as long as they're not scared, they can be communicated with..even though sight and scent are their primary communication!

I'm a buddy @ the "lounge" Quite something to be appreciated by wildlife. That doe acted just like my matriarchal 5yr old doe Zoe. .they develop human "associates" as security against predators and sometimes to get away from intra-species hierarchy/stresses..just walking up and grooming each other is a bonding activity, it is soothing to them when they do that, they won't groom outside of family of their own species, but will engage w/select people. Especially those who stand quietly, and apart from others. We do make good salt licks too, once they discover.. This one acting like head of the HOA.. I run my hands along what I want help trimming, they do a pretty good job of helping. I asked them to stay out of my Church's community garden, one buck jumped in, Momma was short snorting, head up, ears pinned.. @@francisconti9085 You're the Deer Whisperer! 😮 I see deer in my neighborhood at certain times of the year. Once it seemed as if a young buck was chasing me as I rode on my bicycle. It was funny yet a bit freaky.
@francisconti90852 жыл бұрын
@@lemurianchick Haha, I'm afraid I realize now all too well how much our behaviors "yell" so perhaps I'll have to accept the title of being a "deer whisperer" like it or not! I notice they like when I'm most subtle. They read everything before you can make a sound! *Yes, they will commonly "run alongside" mountain bikers on trails, I always wondered if it was a "RUN FIRST, THEN EVADE.. ASK QUESTIONS LATER!" vs the "ninja freeze" while they figure out if the high speed movement was a threat or not.. Got me thinking, LOTS of times only one deer runs as a decoy if they are all concealed, but if they feel safe or the need, all running can create an advantage of "masking" individuals' locations by flooding the vicinity w/the "random-spread" of sound, creating ambiguity rather than clear target to follow.. The "run&zig-zag POUNDING hooves in is a clear warning call.. DEFCON 5! DEFCON 4 would be a snort, DEFCON 3 would be the tail up & flared, DEFCON 2 would be a "freeze" with flared white of tail & rump, ears locked on target, DEFCON 1 would just be a "..WAZZAT??!" freeze & radar ears.. LOL, DEFCON 0 is when all is chill, which is actually most of the time, but still highly alert.. Then there is "PARANOIA CON"...and as expert multitaskers, (like a good housecat).. "I WILL IGNORE YOU AS I DO WHAT I GOTTA DO, DON'T INTERRUPT MY LIFE PROCESS..BUT DON'T THINK I'M NOT GIVING YOU FULL SCRUTINY MEANWHILE" mode LOL.. most of the day deer in established territory/routine are busy eating, ruminating, and loving on each other, watching out & grooming are expressions of affection "you are important, ❤" I've learned that they are very calm by nature, & cherish all the peace they can find in certainty of safety & routine. The older they get the more chill they get, no stress unless it is worth it..less drama! I spent 2 hours w/ my buddies this evening, was like time w/good friends..such purity & innocence, what the world needs so much more of..

In front of them is fairly safe, because their antlers weren't made for piercing, but behind them is the danger zone where you can get a wallop of a kick. 0:26 is a clue it has skin parasites (of most concern, ticks), which can carry various diseases to humans, so check yourself after petting deer. Other than that, they're fun and nonchalant to be around, and they probably find us entertaining too. Unfortunately they may take too much of a liking to our motor vehicles, and that relationship tends toward a bad ending for both.

I have spent 20 years around whitetail deer, but last 5 have been spent MUCH CLOSER to one matriarchal lineage..actually walking with, "embedded to the family" not just "stopping like a tourist & gawking". Learning individual territory, "schedule" & diet, acknowledging directly whenever I saw because I recognized the INDIVIDUAL, rather than the "oh, DEER! Wow, DEER!" novelty..learning HOW to be close to wild animals sometimes is as simple as not acting quite as "human". We act like the paparazzi typically! NOT staring them down, transfixed with predatory glare helps..loose relaxed body posture helps too.. Watch a spooked or angry deer: stiff, neck straight up, eyes glaring, frozen in place..then look @relaxed deer..totally different.. nose to ground then head NOT whipped up & glaring, soft approach.. What's the first thing we humans do when we see a novelty? We stop and take it in! For the duration! Realizing this made an immediate difference! "Stop, acknowledge, relax, resume, show respect, "yielding" ..facilitate their ease of activity, don't interfere with their routine, not disrupting a HUGE starting point. Communicating actively & consistently, knowing effect, rather than passively agitating by unrealized body language "conflicts" is just something I had to learn over time.. along w/the fact if you treat them w/expectation without listening and acknowledging situation & reactions, things don't go well.. like I said takes time & attention, but a tremendous blessing! We have to relearn our expectations sometimes, all I had learned was short of nature's truth, as humans we have to work harder to reconnect to the contexts of "non human society" around us. Wildlife is typically more content to resume their activity than be disrupted. "Dialogue" is available, we just have to come to the "conversation" respectfully from ever growing knowledge and trust🥰 *I hope to eventually create a video "Rosetta-stone " of sorts, as I did for corvid (crow)vocal language context/structure(their language is based upon THEIR WORLD PERSPECTIVE..not ours) As for whitetail, they love family, peace, calm quiet, routine and being acknowledged. If you bring reassurance, they start thinking you aren't so bad. They get wiser to people as they get older too. They learn us and are curious, always cautious but engaging as they feel safe..they learn humans fill the birdfeeders🥰

See, this proves that if man and animal are at peace, they are an immovable object.

Everytime this kind of strange natural behaviour happens in the place where I live, it ended up in pot.
