In this 2019 GDC talk, Insomniac Games' Noah Alzayer goes over how Insomniac Games' rigging team created a (mostly) drama-free pipeline for integration, feedback, rig enhancement, and change tracking for approximately 150 facial rigs from a 3rd party vendor without tying up the whole team.

To imagine this game looks so good as it is, and then got a upgrade 2 years later and made it look even better on next gen systems, Insomniac really outdo themselves sometimes.

Great video when is insomniac going to do something like this for the remastered?

I don't think I quite understood the triangulation problem. Why not triangulate the mesh manually and use this mesh in the engine as the definitive version? Doesn't matter how Maya triangulates faces because morph targets (or blendshapes) deal with vert order not polygon or edges. So given two drastically different triangulated corrective meshes, both can be easily loaded onto the same base mesh without having to worry about triangulation messing up the silhouette.

Just wish Insomniac didn't change Peter's face for the remaster. I'll keep saying it: no amount of "Yuri's bone structure" is gonna convince anyone that they didn't just try to make him look like Tom Holland. Still, some of the absolute best faces in any video game. Fantastic work.

Insomniac has a lot of employees, therefore you get a lot of talks from different departments, its pretty simple, not sure what there is to be bitter about.
