@@biggestbeanburrito712 The controls are pretty bad. A lot of people weren't a fan of having to press a run button, and the movement isn't full analog, even if you play on the 3DS and use the circle pad. It's not necessarily a nostalgia thing.

The Shindou version is the japanese version but BLJ and Gay Bowser are gone, Rumble, and voice lines (The Japanese didn't have voice lines for Mario or Peach and no other character really spoke). To explain it more, the "Blast to the stone Pillar" Star in JRB is still outside of a box like the japanese version. The 40 mario's thing is that on the title screen, if you press Z, Mario multiplies himself. Oh yeah before I forget r/wooooooosh

I don't think than they can find something as powerfull as the BLJ. Also, Nintendo basically put a cap on the negative speed and the positive speed was already capped, so yeah it's literally imposible.

Will be difficult to discover another way to gain a lot of speed in a short time, exists the wall jump but it is not human possible.

You are all so skeptical. There will be tas bots doing things even more mindblowing than bljs given the right time, and after that will be speedrun time. I've watched the speedrun community rise, I've seen many impossibilities fall down to the ground. Y'all already dead for being so skeptical about what speedrunners are able to do. And you don't understand the community if you think it's just sad that a patch was done. It's all about surpassing and overcoming things with sheer willpower and training

You guys clearly don't know how this thing was even ported, edited, etc. .... it's not easy to just port something just like that... the group that is in charge of game ports at nintendo chose this version, get over it. Just because this one glitch is gone doesn't mean the game is garbage. Regarding the "available until date x" part: I really have a feeling there is a reason behind it. Just wait, after all why should nintendo limit something they make money with on a set time, I'm sure games like mario kart 8 deluxe are still being sold daily and that released a few years back.

They didn't "keep" glitches. This is the Shindou version. It hasn't been modified other than some text and the resolution.

Probably not. The people speedrunning this version will mostly be people who did 70 star runs anyway and maybe some new people. Actually, no. The input delay will likely discourage serious speedruns.

The focus of mario 64 speedrunning has always been the original console,the speedruns themselves are optimized for that with things like lag reduction the speedrunning scene wont even look at this with their asses

The Shindou version basically adds rumble, removes the BLG hyperspeed building and makes Mario rotate around more when he grabs a tree or pole. Also, the US version added extra voice lines and bugfixes that were missing in the original Japanese version. The Shindou version keeps these additions. The Shindou version also replaces the line "So long, eh, Bowser" with "Buh-bye" because Bowser in Japan is only known as "Kuppa". Also, some sound effects (like the chomp and the red coins) are different between the Japanese and US versions of SM64. The Shindou reverts to the Japanese sound effects while keeping most of the additions from the US version.

There IS a trick to gain high speed to clip through the doors and endless staircase that's possible in the Shindou version called Hyper Speed Wallkick, but it's pretty much TAS-only. It requires hundreds of frame-perfect wall kicks to build speed.

the BLJ is not in 3d all stars, the reason for this is that this is not the same Mario 64 on N64 we've been playing, this is the Shindou version which removed it. why are people so unaware that all these changes aren't new, the only thing special about this SM64 shindou is that it's translated to other languages.
