@@TheOdMan the full context shows he was very serious, and it went on for a long time saying the same kinda things over and over. This channel I found right after unsubbing from RWhiteGoose and Karl does the same kinda videos, but better, and I can watch them without giving ad revenue to an actual nazi. Dark Timeline: the sub 1hr was never accomplished. The barrier seems impossible. Runners start to get burnt out and leave, never once finishing in under an hour. As the Odyssey community starts to stale, SummoningSalt documents the entire course, every single tiny trick and optimization, puts together an hour and a half feature length special on why Cappy Can't Go Quicker. While he's finishing up the rendering in Sony Vegas and starts uploading to youtube, someone starts and finishes their 59:59 run.

I'm not even close to a speedrunner, but something was immediately clear when I played both Breath of the Wild and Mario Odyssey; just how versatile they are. With the right amount of skill and/or time, you can do some crazy shit. I've seen people using stasis and remote bomb and revali's gale in tandem like they were artists with a fucking brush, and using Cappy to get over seemingly impossible gaps in seconds. I love that about games like this, it's not only great for speedrunners, but to me, it makes the game seem like something to play with that lasts way longer than a majority of games do. I really hope Nintendo continues to make more of these really open games with complex ways to do shit.

Speedrunning is such an awesome stuff to watch. For real, few years back when I was introduced to it I've never met a more friendlier community like this... I wanted to speedrun a almost forgotten game "Might & Magic 6" and after that I wanted to learn 7th and finally 8th Might & Magic game to speedrun. When it comes to Might & Magic 6 it is literally my most favourite game of all times. I've played it for the first time when I was 3 or 4 years old and to this day there is so much stuff I just love to do. Having the knowledge of the game in my memory since I was a little kid I know to this day where everything is... from NPCs to Items to random locations and times when they appear. And for sure I've found a lot of secrets and glitches when I was playing it on my own. Years later I found out other people knew about these secrets and glitches too which made me kind of "egoistic" thinking I've found it first but never told anyone (How could I, our internet was slow af and how many people did have internet in 1999?) But one glitch in perticular was really interesting for me. You see... you start the game with 4 characters which as a younger me I've spent hundreds of hours trying which classes are the best for completing the game the fastest way and I always went with 4 archers(rangers). Whenever I've needed to kill anyting I killed it from afar but I've always needed MORE characters but not starting with bow skill kinda fucked me over. Until 2017 when I found out there is a glitch you can add a invisible 5th character to your party. Imagine playing a game from 1999 to this day, over and over only to find out there is something you don't know about in that game. I've watched every single speedrun of that game I could find, but after year of trying I was never close enough to times others got. I didn't want to bother other speedrunners for advices on game that barely people know, but after literally watching the wr twice in a row I've realised I cannot beat them nor come close to them because of one simple thing. You see, when you play some game for too long, you develop a some kind of playstyle you cannot change even though you try your best... Nowdays if you play for example CS:GO and in my case I've always been a great lurker. My aim sucked so I've always sneaked behind them or was waiting somewhere for their rotations but whenever I was put in any other situation like retaking a site or having an aim duel with their AK/M4 players I've always lost. Now going back to M&M6 I've always played the game saving so much resources I've never actually needed a single potion or spell scroll nor did I use things like shop after like 15 minutes into the game. I've been skipping alot of things that I nowdays just cannot learn to do. I remember when I was a kid and was trying out every single possible combination of potions you can create. I've made a huge list which told what combination do and mainly because of my laziness I've slowly stopped using potions at all. Now when it comes to speedrun of this game I saw a real usage of healing AND mana potions with combination of others like potion of awakening (when your character is put to sleep you need to wake them up via potion, spell or sleeping OR you can "heal" them in churches) Spell for this kind of state of your character is like the first spell in water magic so why would I create potions for it? Well, when it comes to one location it is much faster to just go to the inventory and spam click the potions AND because in the whole dungeon (and it is one of the biggest ones) enemies burn your mana and active spells so it is completely useless to use them. Another thing is the glitch I found whenever you wanted to learn your characters something - it was class based. By that I mean only Knight or Paladin could learn how to wear Plate armor and for example mage could only wear leather armor. With that glitch you spam clicked a corner of your screen whenever you were in the dialogue of learning anything and whenever you heared a "coin sound" that character learned something that he shouldn't be able to learn. This is only possible on a official versions of the game because fan-updates patched this bug, but honestly one of the best bugs there is... must be the when where you glitch your character into wearing armour upon another armour and another and just slap a whole bunch of armours on him. Same goes with weapons so with luck and enough time you have a character that gets next to zero damage and almost insta-kills anyting. That is possible only at the "1.0" version of the game and from what I've seen there isn't a solid explanation anywhere on the internet. But I've not lost faith and once I'll be confident enough to try and beat the we in Migh & Magic 6 I'll reveal that glitch to the public. Yes it is selfish but something I found out as a small kid so I'm somewhat "proud" of it :^) Got a bit carried away ... damn no one's gonna read it all so hey if you did, props to you and have a cold one on me ;) One day I can promise you'll see a nickname "TEJR" on Might & Magic 6 leaderboards... one day.

Did anyone else find that "I'm a strong and independent whamen, I don't need no man" ending cut scene as frustrating as I did? We just laid waste to an entire fing universe for you princess. Can't Bowser just lay there trashed, and Mario just "get the girl"?

Character-wise, it's her choice to return Mario's affection. No amount of heroics will "force" her to love him. Story-wise, it's an interesting twist on the formula.

People are gonna come back to this video 10 years from now and laugh at the idea that people were struggling to beat Mario Odyssey in under an hour, the same way that we now laugh at the idea that people were struggling to beat Super Mario Bros in under 5 minutes.

@@General12th i know that but with olympic sports you are also an athlete so you can be proud of that plus you can compete in the fucking Olympics... You get jack shit for speed running except recognition from the very small speed running community please dont compare Olympic sports to speed running a video game

This had probably been said before, but I feel like devs should add a speedrunning mode that's essentially 1.0 except for things like stability fixes it wouldn't be too hard to implement.
