It's the biggest event of the year! It's the Superbowl of speedrunning! It's GAMES DONE QUICK, BABY. This year I'm doing two runs... this one is "Baron of Shell," a ridiculously hard shell jump kaizo hack. My other run is called "Fly Me to The Stars," which... is also a ridiculously hard kaizo hack. Not sure why I punish myself like this. Anyway, enjoy.

A staff memeber got covid that a lot of people interacted with, hence the masks for the last two days. Also if you come to comment about that and that only, you are prob missing the point of charity events and how much i fucking slayed this run :)

i thought i’d have a hard time staying up until 5:00 am to see the entirety of gpb’s runs live, but the adrenaline was so high that i couldn’t fall asleep for another four hours after getting home. plus, gpb signed my attendee badge & took pictures with me. fuck yeah.

I sent an email to Miyamoto for clarification and got this response; "it was always our intention for yoshi to be a throw away friend for mario. We added him to the game much like someone adds a wrapper around a cheeseburger. It is helpful for when it needs transportation for one place to another but when it is time to enjoy, you throw it away. So if you need help getting around you may use the yoshi but once you are ready to enjoy the game you are supposed to discard it like a piece of trash."

Really wish I could have caught this live, sadly my schedule just didn't match up. Fan-frickin'-tastic run, GBP! Love how you worked the crowd, you're a great showman. Honestly you're the reason I got into the Mario community (well, watching people do rom hacks and Mario Maker at least) after I managed to catch one of your GDQ runs a few years back.

This was an absolute blast to see in person! The crowd was in awe, that's why we were so quiet! It was also so dang early in the morning. Meeting Poo, his editor, the maker of the Iron Mon hall of Fame statues, the maker of this game, and everyone else was an honor (I'm terrible at names though). Thanks for an amazing birthday weekend! Holy moly Poo! One shotting so many of those ridiculously hard levels with insane jumps back to back! Radical! But that's not what I am commenting for. What I love most about this run is the old school vibe and the energy of you, your amazing fun and beautiful couch, and the enthusiastic audience, and of course the lady with the Poo shirt who has been waiting all day for this run!

I've been watching Kaizo for a while now. I don't play but I love watching them. There's alot of creators out there but in my mind there's a few really good creators. This guy is one of them. This hack is really good and has great flow, difficulty, indicators, everything the player needs to not get lost. Or making the hack too easy or too hard. I must give credit where it's due! Keep on creating...and of course Poo kills it... :)

Yeah, I'd like a special shout out for Shojou giving the exact right commentary at the right time, explaining little things, saying how stupid hard a thing is that we were looking at, things like that. But yeah, they all did an amazing job explaining things and hyping things up. But I really super appreciate those little inserts Shojou made. Literally every time I was wondering about something, she said/explained it a second later.

Few runners match Poo's capacity for crowd work. Even after he tells them to make some noise tho, they just sit there calmly the gdq crowd is so polite. Baller move on the "four!" Guy following up with "thats ridiculously good, poo!"
