Aleste and Star Soldier series(With share similarities), have SOOOO many sequels, that actually can amaze you how freaking awsome some games are, Soldier Blade, SUper Star Soldier, Musha Alest, Gunhed/Blazing Lazers...The list goes on

For a great modern baseball game, look up Super Mega Baseball 1 and 2. The visuals are cartoony, particularly in the first one, but the gameplay is an airtight baseball simulation in both a single exhibition game and a full season.

Most of the good rpg's on the super Nintendo don't need remakes IMO. They are in their own world and are fine as is.

Love the list, but I am honestly of the opinion that Super Metroid is such a timeless classic, that it would be hard to make a modern remake or update that did not infringe on the art and sound style that game had for it.

Space Megaforce (Super Aleste) is part of a larger Aleste series.

For me the no. 1 choice would probably be Secret of Mana. That's a game they could really do something with to improve it gameplay-wise, while the audiovisuals don't need anything but minor touch ups. I've also heard about an earlier CD-based build which was more fleshed out storywise, so it seems they already have material for such a project. Regarding some of yours; Super Aleste is fine as is and part of a pretty long series. I also fear it would just be bullet hell mobile phone game if rebooted today. A Mario Paint update that makes a serious effort to replicate all older sound chips by Nintendo to let us easily compose using them would be an awesome thing. Actraiser - Agreed. Vortex, sure, though I think the result might still be rather redundant if you've played other mech games on PC. EVO - Absolutely! A japanese, minimal take on spore is something I'm definitely interested in. Soul Blazer - Just a spiritual sequel to the three games developing on their concepts would be cool, in the right hands. Super Metroid - This is another one that I just don't think needs it. I'd rather have something like a "second quest" wiiware/3ds release based on the exact same engine.

Sad to say we will not see anything related to Soul Blazer or the rest of the Quintet Gaia trilogy since Quintet has been defunct since around 2002.

Man that Filmore theme from ActRaiser took me way back. My parents were divorced before I could form memories. I was very lucky to have SNESs at both houses, but my Dad had ActRaiser. He picked it out himself because he thought I would like it. Damn was he right. I never beat it, couldn't get past that volcano stage, but I played the absolute shit out of it.

The PS3 game "Tokyo Jungle" plays a lot like a modern day EVO

Actraiser did get a modern remake. It was pretty good. It's on the PS store.

For Mario Paint's image creation functionality, there's Art Academy on the Wii U, which is a great piece of software. No music creation though, and no Nintendo IP included.

Now that you mention it, Okami reminds me a great deal of Actraiser. You play as a god who fights demon in order to purify lands then level up by performing tasks for people and getting praise from them.

Oh my god I was about to comment and say Hyperzone because I was sure the video wasn't going to say it. I had so many ideas for a remake for that game, like being able to flip 180 and ride the ceiling. And the floor and ceiling wouldn't be symmetrical, for example at some points the floor and ceiling roads would divert or sometimes only the floor or ceiling would have a road so you'd have to switch to it in time. I even drew sketches for new designs for all the spaceships you could pilot in the first game.

I got vortex as a kid. took me some time to get into the mission. After i really enjoyed it. got Soul blazer too. back in the days i had no idea of secret of mana and games like this that they exist. i could only bought my games used from a store with little to choose from. the only Info about the game was the picture on the cartridge. luckylie i got some good games. desert fighter was one of them too.

Seeing what they did with FF4 and Dissidia, I'd love to see remakes of 5 & 6. They could utilize a similar style to properly incorporate a visual design with more fidelity to Yoshitaka Amano's style. I'd also love to see a remake polished version of Quest 64. That game has so much charm and potential.

I would like to see the whole Soul Blazer triology being released on the Nintendo Switch, giving it the same treatment as they did with the Seiken Densetsu-series in form of Collection of Mana.

Personally, I would rather see a remake of other Super FX games like Stunt Racing FX or Starfox/Starwing than of Vortex. I think Vortex is one of the only SFX games on the SNES that has aged well both visually and gameplay wise. Not saying that the other games are unplayable but they need it more IMO. And yes I know Yoshi's Island also makes use of a Super FX chip but that was a whole revised version of it and it used the 3D effects only a few times unlike the others.

COMPLETELY agree about EVO, would be so much fun if they cut down the grind, enhanced the combat a bit, and made the evo options more diverse. As for Metroid, check out a game called Axiom Verge! it's pretty much what you're looking for.

a game that came out since this video was made: Samus Returns for the 3DS. technically, it is a remake of Return of Samus for the GameBoy, but it does have a significant graphics overhaul, new and varied gameplay mechanics and the 3D effect makes it about as immersive as Super Metroid (especially if you use some nice headphones). how bout a vid like this but for NES including, but not limited to, The Guardian Legend.

They were working on a sequel to Mario Paint for the N64 Disc Drive. It was called "Mario Artist" and it was going to be split into many different games. Half of them did actually get released in Japan, but the rest were all cancelled. I think that an N64 sequel to the Soul Blazer series would have been pretty awesome, as would a Metroid sequel. I remember people talking about Metroid 64 quite a bit back during the N64's heyday. People definitely wanted it, and it seemed like something that was inevitable(because there was a game in the series for every other Nintendo console), but for some strange reason it never happened. Nintendo has kind of abandoned the series at this point, letting other people make Metroid games. Not a fan of these other outside developers screwing around so much with the formula(Prime, Other M, Federation Force).

It's no ActRaiser or SoulBlazer remake, but you may want to look towards Soldak Entertainment's games for how to mix sim elements into the game. Just about their entire catalog is made up of games that mix action RPGs with sim elements like diplomacy or caring for your village. They would probably be the people to really do Quintet's trilogy (I guess quad in this case) right.

It's not exactly modern, but I consider Zanac x Zanac/Zanac Neo on the PSX as a spiritual successor to Space Megaforce in some regards.

OK I think retro games should be modern version games that look like 16 bit games without its limitations. I got a few ideas for retro games: 1. A Shooter that can move the camera from top down, rail, and that defender side scroll.

I think that Metroid, either classic or prime style, would make for an awesome horror game.

Out Of This World & it's companion game / sequel? Just streamline or make the control better, but the idea and concept was great and is still great.

Link Between Worlds didn't impress me much, especially compared to it's source. I found it fascinating that they attempted to open the dungeon order up by allowing you to rent whichever item you wanted and punished you by taking it away on death. However, most everything else I found to be a step back. The challenge is seriously lacking for one, which is a huge deal for me. That system I just mentioned? Seems the developers interpreted it to mean if they are going to use a system like that then they need to standardize the difficulty of each one instead of making it more difficult as you move to less accessible dungeons. They should have just kept the difficulty higher for areas like Turtle Rock and the marsh. I think I died twice in the whole thing and yet by then I could easily rent what I needed once again because of how generous it is with rupees. The way the dungeons are made are just so easy because the whole dungeon is suited to it's item that it feels about as difficult as following (unwritten) instructions. An optional hard mode or something might have been nice to offer when I started the game, but I have to wonder if they still have the level designers capable of delivering on it. The graphics look a bit more childish whereas the original I was at least capable of taking it more seriously. Everything looks like it's popped out of a Pixar movie with chibi characters. The original had better character proportions, menacing looking bosses & grimier, more convincing dungeons. The music in LttP was better too. Even more damning is Link's voice is in it yet again. There's a reason the most popular mod for the GBA version is to remove his voice to make it more like the original SNES release. Because it's annoying and adds nothing to the game. If Nintendo does to Super Metroid what they did to this game, I'll very likely be quite displeased. I know this video was made before it was announced, but I'm already disatisfied enough with Samus Returns being given the same treatment.

Super Metroid MMO, now that would be awesome. Play as Bounty Hunters. Upgrade ships, weapons, and armor, fight the Space Pirates and other threats. Take the best parts of No Man's Sky, and make something truly awesome.

Super Metroid would do so much better as a remaster with a wide-screen hack.

I rented Vortex a few times as a kid. I had mixed feelings about it. The music blew me away and was some of the best tunes I heard on the SNES at the time. But the game itself was kinda broken and insanely difficult. There also seemed to be a bit of input lag, which didn't help the difficulty. It seemed like a lot of the worlds had a story behind them. If they fleshed out this game and gave it a modern remake, l'd be interested.

EVO was kinda remade on the Sega Dreamcast

A remake of Soul Blazer could work well with the Binding of Isaac engine. After that, it would just need some refining of the rather boring artstyle and become great. But honestly, I would prefer a sequel to the Soul balzer-Terranigma arc. The idea of rebuilding the world as a hero was really awesome. It felt rewarding to walk through the rebuild cities in Soul Blazer. Terranigmas later story twists were that much more meaningful since I not only initiated them with my actions but also caused the existence of the stage for these actions. As linear as it was, it made the whole quest seem much more meaningful than what even many modern RPGs provide.

I think an remake or reimaginable of Super Metroid would be great. Super Metroid is still great. Don't get me wrong. But the controls can be thrown off to me at times even if I go to it's control option & the physics can be kinda clunky. If they fixed the controls and physics as right as like say Zero Mission did & make the game look like an 3D dimensional in an 2D game like Link Between Worlds did, than that would be sweet & I'll buy it.

3DS would be a great platform for a Mario paint sequel. I've been saying it for years.

This video is kinda old, but Dragon Quest Builders has both action and city building. It's not as good as Actraiser, but if they ever make a Builders 2 it has the potential.

Watching this in 2022 when ActRaiser has gotten a remake, and OUCH, I almost wish it hadn't.

Nintendo REALLY needs give us a remake of Actraiser or make anew game that is a spiritual successor to Actraiser. I disagree about Super Metroid. There's not really much room for improvement for Super Metroid. It's already a basically perfect and fully realized game. It's pointless to remake perfection; at best the game could be as good as the original.

Here’s the thing about Super Metroid, at least as far as the soundtrack goes: we did get a rearrangement of one of the songs. The Lower Norfair theme was redone for Magmoor Caverns in Metroid Prime. And I so disappointed with it, they took the most intense track in Super Metroid and turned it into generic sci-fi background noise. Don’t get me wrong, I loved Prime, but I was not nearly as enamored with the music as so many others seemed to be. Super Metroid had it right, it was atmospheric.
