I'm pretty sure they're just recording the pre-game demo sequences. Mario Kart is playing the title music, Super Metroid is playing the title music, Mega Man X2 has sound but no music, Street Fighter Alpha 2 keeps flashing the message to press the start button... Plenty of evidence to suggest it's not recorded during regular gameplay.

@@RetroCrisis Nah I love dirty. I've bumped NTSC resolution scaling to 1.5 so I think I got the best of both worlds... XD Thanks for the shader!

This looks amazing! I just got done playing Final Fantasy III for the first time and I used your shader. It looked soooo good, CRT shaders really make these old games look gorgeous. I'm looking forward to using this new version for when I get around to Chrono Trigger!

Looks fantastic. However, i feel like the CRT Clean and Dirty presets are almost two extreme endmembers... like a really pristine S-Video and a bad RF connection. In general i think the Dirty preset had closer colors to what i remember. The Clean preset is... slightly green? However, i think the Dirty preset is a touch *too* blurry. The fringing and color smearing/blurring is a nice touch, though, that I think demonstrates what old pixel artists had originally intended. Keep up the good work!

Do you perform any colorspace correction on the shaders, regarding the signal? I was looking through specs and it seems both PAL and NTSC deviate from sRGB and rec709 used on HDTVs. NTSC is the worst offender. Are the targeting HDR and rec2020 or just 4k? What the shaders due to jaggies is pretty amazing. Great work!

Ive enjoyed all of these releases. Have you written anywhere about what changes you make for each system preset and why? Is it based on just making each one look the best it can according to your own tastes or is it somewhat based on historical accuracy or something? I appreciate the showcase but I would enjoy watching a video or reading a blog post about your decision making process for the presets if you think that is worth sharing.

I've never really thought to do that. But it does sound like a good idea. At some point soon if I get time I'll try to do something that explains the differences between the presets. I appreciate the advice

While I like the filter and how it blends in all the colors, I still prefer raw pixels, it just looks sharper and cleaner.

Nice work, but I found it very dark, I would have to force the bloom a little, the second one with too much NTSC filter with a lot of noise. I think it's better to opt for cleaner scanlines.

Some parts of the video are a bit on the dark side. But if you try the shader presets on your computer, they might be a bit better

Do your shaders scale well for handheld devices with 3.5" screens such as an anbernic etc they look amazing

Can I use it for NES games? I'm new to all things RetroArch and I'm honestly lost in the sea of shaders filters settings and whatnot. I've no idea what I'm doing, I'm basically just randomly picking out presets and trying them out, but nothing really turns out the way I would like it to. I hate pixels but I also hate modern anti-aliasing solutions such as scaleFX, it looks terrible in my opinion. I want my games to look like the pixels are meshing together such as in this video, exactly the way it was back in 2000s on CRT TVs.

@@RetroCrisis Hi there and thank you for your reply. I've been tinkering with the presets and eventually I figured out how it all works, if only on a basic level. I've tried out many presets and shaders and usually there's something I love about them (smoothness i.e. no pixelation, clarity, glass in MBZ) and also something I don't like (modern-like edge smoothing, lack of scan lines, too prominent scan lines, pixelation). So it was usually a combination of sth I like and sth I don't. So I tampered with the shader parameters and I came up with something I mostly like, especially when it comes to shadows and color gradation in games, but I am not able to make the text and characters for example less pixelated. Is there a way I could send it to you and you could maybe take a look when you have time?

Hey not bad, as usual I will my comments hehehe, personal ones. I think scanlines should be a tad tiny byt less pronouns, too much space between pixels and maybe up the brightness a notch to compensate? As usual I am talking of the clean one, not a fan of the dirty look personally :)

I think they'll work with glcore too...but I'm not 100% sure. Have an experiment and see what you get

This is the ugliest crt filter i ever seen, you know that when playing on a real crt you don't see scanlines until you get really close to the screen, this shader is like sticking your nose on a crt screen and playing

Some steps that might help: 1. Online updated > Update slang shaders 2. Video driver > Vulkan 3. Triple check you've installed in the correct location 4. Make sure you didn't delete any of the folders in my pack

It won't let me choose one of the presets. There is no update slang shaders in online updater also.

@@RetroCrisis Downloaded the APK from homepage. Seems like that is the best way to do it, there is a rumor that the playstore verion is fake or wrong.

@@RetroCrisis Also, since Android 14 there is no way to access the system folders without rooting my phone. So I had to point the app to another folder, and updated shaders_glsl from the Online Updater. That added some files to that folder, but not the _slang files.
