Success Stories on GLP-1 Medications: Suzy's Weight Loss Journeys
In this episode of The Downsized Dish, host Laraine Durham shares her success story and interviews Suzy, who has lost 47 pounds on GLP-1 weight loss medications like Zepbound and Mounjaro. They discuss their experiences with weight loss, the impact of menopause and the pandemic, and their personal workout routines. Suzy details her journey, starting from using Mounjaro, the positive effects, minimal side effects, and her protein intake strategy. Lorraine and Suzy also talk about maintaining weight loss, healthy eating habits, and the importance of cardio and strength training. Suzy concludes by highlighting her new book and podcast projects related to interior design and dinner parties.

I too am on 2.5, for 11 weeks so far. I can FEEL it still working strongly. Im down 23 pounds. I do not intend on increasing my dose until I dont feel the effect of 2.5. Laraine, I think you might need to tweek your idea of what the purpose of 2.5 is. Let people know it's fine to STAY on a lower dose if it's working. It's also fine to go up to a higher dose if it works better. Thanks for this interview.

Another wonderful interview, Laraine! Suzy, you are awesome. Thanks for sharing your story. I am also a super-responder, but have long ago left the lower doses. I am so glad you all can microdose and stay on the lower doses. I am a diabetic and it's not uncommon for diabetics to need higher doses to lower HbA1c and have weight loss. Depending on availablility, I have been on Mounjaro for 9 months and 15mg for 7 months. I was on Trulicity for a year, (the highest dose for 6 months) before Mounjaro. People talk about hitting a ceiling on higher doses, that they will eventually stop working and then where do we go? I have had no minimization of the expected and desired effects of the GIP/GLP-1.My labs are meticulous and I have continued losing for the entirety of the almost two years on my GLP-1 excursion. I _might_ be at the end of my weight loss journey now, which would bring me to maintenance. I'm hanging out at the same weight for 6 weeks now. I have no weight goal, just medical and physical goals that are already met. I'm right at 180 lbs. (give or take a couple of pounds) and that is a total loss of 225 pounds... going from 405 lbs to 180. I'll take it! Again, great show, Laraine! As always.

Barb Congratulations on your 225 pound weight loss! And thanks for your comments. I always like to hear your view point on these different topics. How many months have you been on just Mounjaro? 9 total? and 15mg for 7 months - I would think you still have some runway left for weight loss. But dang 225 lost is AMAZING.

Thank you for the interview. It answered some questions for me. I’m diabetic and have been on the fence about starting the GLP-1. I also have CKD and don’t want to cause any more harm to my kidneys. I chuckled but was also upset about your mom taking you for liposuction. The doctor told my mom when I was 5 that I was 5 pounds overweight and to watch me and watch me she did. I don’t remember a day that I was on every crazy diet that came down the pike. Unfortunately at 70 I’ve been diabetic for almost 50 years and I need to do something to get my A1C down to a good number. Thanks again.

The doctors of the 60's and 70's were against us from the start! My mom said the doctor told her to put me on skim milk around age 5 because I was chunky. I remember mixing up carnation powdered milk, because you couldn't buy skim in stores back then. Good luck on your journey and thanks for watching!

Thanks for your comment. If you can't move your left side I'm not sure what you can do. I would really concentrate on your food intake and make sure you are getting protein, fiber, vegetables, ect.
