My big inspirations for this project come from playing a lot of (and getting a little addicted to) Super Smash Bros Melee. I wanted to do my own take on this kind of gameplay, with a twist!
I wanted to also make this as a big tribute to Valve and a bunch of other games and properties that I just like
I hope you enjoy! More stuff is on the way from me

The fact that nobody has made a source engine fighting game with workshop support like this yet is absolutely criminal. Yeah, when you think of fighting game engines source is not one that comes to mind... but if Titain Fall 1 and 2 could stretch the source engine as far as they did... imagine what further limits it could reach if used like this?

@@soggybreadman4035 Alien Swarm and Nuclear Dawn too, show that Source Engine can handle multiple genres, not just FPSes. Super Source Bros has been my dream since someone made a Melee trailer reference 9 years ago. Maybe someday we'll see a Source 2 attempt.

I know we're all sad about this not being an actual game but can we also appreciate what the video format allows Anomidae to do? Like Chell's moveset with a Portal Gun would struggle a bit unless you played with a mouse (the need for precise, quick aiming of portals). But we can enjoy it here. Also camera movement and special effects? I'd love the game, but this looks awesome too

angle of the blue portal (the only one which chell opened) is exatcly 45 degrees and was opened when jumped. maybe it's just like a jump followup, where you shoot a portal 45 degrees down?

Wanna actually make it a game? I'm a computer science major at the University of Oregon to learn game development, there are a ton of students like myself that can be gathered together to work on a project like this.

@@QSBraWQbut it would suck to have little to no control over the second portal. To make it truly stand out* it would require the aiming. I'm not saying is impossible, I'm just saying that if I had to make a game out of this, I'd have to abide by certain... restrictions, to prioritize gameplay. But an animation doesn't have those restrictions.

You have to input a cheat code on the select screen to unlock the secret interloper character, who can phase through stage geometry and one hit kill. Basically a cheat character, like some secret characters in old twisted metal games.

Any video that ends in a big fat stinky “x” is apart of the greater “interloper” narrative. And it’s not that “oh it’s one big crossover with all the characters!” It’s more likely this is anomidae (the fictional one) using type 5 demos to crank out videos like this.

I’m pretty sure the interloper entity is in the last bit where Gman says “you aren’t supposed to be here”, would go along with the theme of “all source games are connected via the engine” theme

I don't think the X has anything to do with the Interloper, its appeared at the last frame of their videos since even before the first interloper video (or at least the one right before it). I think its just part of Anomidae's general editing style, or kinda like a watermark/signature.

You know a valve/steam smash bros game would actually be plausible. I don’t think valve would throw a legal fit over it, Gary’s mod was literally a fan mod before being bought by valve. I could even see potential for indie game reps being highlighted with possible new characters. Imagine playing against heavy tf2 as an outer wilds character or something. Great idea and wonderfully animated!!! Great job!

if valve (bc i think only valve can make a game like this) made a game like this, im pretty sure it would be a big hit, especially if they did collaborate with creators of other source based games like cry of fear, the stanley parable and others. i would be more interested in that than smash, ngl. the animation is amazing to say the least, it does look like an actual game and is so smooth that its uncanny in the best way. Honestly, a great job. I love the videos that arent just the interloper (whether being merely connected to it or completely separate) bc you make such great content beside the interloper
