I actually had something like that happen with a Zelda game. I had been stuck at an area with steam blocking the path and I felt dumb taking so long but I was like "come on, it's a Zelda game. They HAD to have dropped a hint how to get past this SOMEWHERE. It's the main road we're talking here, there aren't any other visible paths!" Kid comes up and goes "oh I know this part, it's easy!" He just walks to the edge and instead of falling like I assumed would happen, Link clings to the cliff's side so you can go right past to the other side of the steam vent. I guess having played so many games like Skyrim I just assumed you couldn't do that lol.

I remember being in a situation like this too. I had taken the Genocide route in Undertale and was unable to defeat Sans. Like, I had tried fighting him at least 10 times. My younger cousin had come over and was watching me struggle and asked to try. I had already given up so I let him play. And guess what? The little brat did it and barely lost any HP! So how did I react? Well I slowly got up, grabbed my water gun from the basement, filled it up and started to fire at him. I basically chased this edgy kid around the block shooting him, laughing sadistically at his cries of help. Sure, I got in trouble. But it was worth it.
