Actually they could be because they can interact with other villagers like trades and stuff. They also uses resources and have bag that can fit a large items that aren't supposed to fit (like wodden log or block of diamond.)

I like how Alph's Pikmin stole his headphones, how DK looks so professional even though he's literally a wild animal, Sonic wears a sweatshirt even though he normally doesn't wear clothes, and how Morgana is in fron of Joker's webcam. But what freaks me out is, What's up with Minecraft Steve?!
