Hey Boss you need to do a review on the Roasted Dang Gui Duck at Toa Payoh Central, value for money and deliciously tender whichever part of the duck you try.. Comparable to the Dian Xiao Er ones in my humble opinion. i believe its a stall in a coffeeshop at Blk 178.

I once patronised the Bt Batok stall. I ordered half a white chicken but the staff dissuaded me and served me a smaller portion. Reason is I dined alone and the staff is worried that I can't finish it. Surprised that you are able to order half and half without being dissuaded. 😃

Smart choice to go for white chicken.. the brown chicken could be from yesterday’s unsold white chicken. Not so fresh anymore.

Finally tried this from Bukit Batok. Firstly, don't like the rice. It's more like rice for roasted meats than chicken rice and too brownish. Chicken texture is amazing, but unfortunately it's very bland. Maybe I should have poured more sauce over it. Anyway, unlikely to give it another visit. Thanks for the vids, btw.

not sure... it started to place Chicken rice with fried shallots and bean sprout. i presume this is the Malaysian style. Singapore original style of hainanese is seasome oil and soya sauce ( and these are bottled separately. not premixed) some corrianders and tee boon or salted veg..... the soup is just pure broth of chicken with layers of chicken oil.

Thank you for sharing your latest on S'pore Iconic dishes. Just as a point of interest, Seed oil(canola), corn oil and sunflower oil are very harmful to our cardiovascular system. Rice Bran oil and peanut oil are both healthy alternatives....The latter were shared by some cardiac surgeons/Heart specialists, a few years ago. In fact blended vege. oil is a poor source.
@GregoryLeow

Apparently, it’s all vegetable oils including rice bran and peanut. It has to do with the linoleic acid content. This talk summarises it: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bdF3ocmJva-vioE.html

@celestialstar124
@celestialstar124 Жыл бұрын
That's very incorrect.... There are some stall taste really good while some really horrible. Even free I also won't want to eat. Chicken rice is a dish that is oily so if didn't cook well can be too sick to eat finish the whole plate.

@@arlopoetiray5534 you are welcome. If u don't like chicken rice u can try other food as we have many other type of food worth trying too. I need to point out that usually the hainanese chicken rice (aka white) is with oily rice. The roast chicken can be with oily rice or plain rice depending on the stall. I usually order hainanese if I dine alone. Only add roasted chicken if dining with friends or family. Maybe roasted chicken can taste more similar but the rice and the hainanese chicken will come in more different taste.

@@arlopoetiray5534 loy kee and bong tong kee are chicken rice chains so their standard is above average but definitely not the best. I will compare it like Mcdonald. It is definitely above average burgers but it is not the best as there are better quality version. In Singapore Tian Tian Chicken rice is 1 of the most popular among tourist but at maxwell hwaker centre where tian tian is on sale there are a few stall that sell decent chicken rice that is comparable with tian tian too. We locales are lucky enough to eat chicken rice regularly or even daily so we can pick the better version. For tourist they tend to get introduced to those tourist hot-spot because if a local tell the tourist a stall in residential estate or factory area its not easy for the tourist to find the stall. The transport time and cost may not make it worthy for the tourist too as they have limited duration in Singapore. This channel actually is good. The content creator is aware of many good food in Singapore that are not just tourist attractions or hotspot. As for why I end up with bad chicken rice occasionally is because when I go to a new location for some errands I eat there without knowing their food quality. I do notice some chicken rice I find it not tasty enough to finish the whole plate.
