Now THIS is where electric bikes should have the money spent. Perfect for cities and easy to charge.

My Honda 125 scooter, which I more or less only use for running about town to shops because of the top box and underseat capacity, does about 200 miles on a tankful. I fill it up about every 6 to 8 weeks I'd say. Buying a town and city use electric bike would be likely for similar reasons so a range of around 80 miles may mean I need to charge it every 3 weeks. I can live very happily with that. Even better is that I can charge that off the inverter on my shed solar so not even connected to the mains meter.

Thinking of looking into a jackery solar generator to see if I can charge it with that. If so, I may even attempt a wee road trip around Scotland on one, could be interesting

Litium-Ion batteries don't like to be too charged or too discharged for long times, so they would last longer if you charge them right after you used them rather than when they are almost empty. Also, avoid charging them to more than 80 % unless you really need the last 20 % and you are going to use them right away. I charge mine to a little more than 50 % right after I used them and then I charge them again right before using them. I have charged mine more than 700 times now and they are still in a good shape.

The only major negative is that you have virtually no underseat storage on these, compared to say the silence s01, which can hold 16 full sized wine bottles under the seat

I've actually seen a lady from Manchester review this bike already. Definitely the battery's on this make the bike quite practical and near on 80 miles is more than adequate. I like it.🙂

Yeah IDK, if you're going to go above 80 miles, you might want to look into a proper bike... or maybe... a car? In my country 80 miles gets me a huge cut throughout the country. The only problem with these sort of bikes is that you can't charge them at normal electric car chargers. You NEED a wall socket, and if you want to do a road trip on these things, you're gonna have to find a lot of generous people to let you charge your batteries for a few hours, even if it's only a few bucks worth of electricity.

Another excellent review .. thank you. I share your disappointment with the Super Soco CPX, the bike promises so much with it's two batteries, range, top speed etc. but is let down by the acceleration and overall performance. There are some really nice touches to this bike, like the easy to remove back wheel, straight forward charging, large wheels, handling, etc. ... it could be the ideal commuter. To me, if Super Soco address: the performance (acceleration to be more inline with a 125cc petrol), fit a proper indicator switch, give the bike more robust mirrors, look at fitting a height adjustable screen, offer a colour coordinated top box as standard (to make up for the lack of under-seat stowage) this bike could tick a lot of boxes and sales could rocket, attracting a lot of riders from petrol machines. Your thoughts Spicy??

I went to a bicycle race, cyclocross, and I saw something I never saw before. People hopping on and off their bikes on the right side. Yes, there are people for whom this is more natural. Perhaps this explains the right side mount for the kickstand on this scooter. Cheers from the USA.

This looks like a great town runaround. I currently live 14 miles from work and it regularly takes me 90 minutes to get to work during London rush hour. Something like this could really cut down on times, especially when I’m not doing the school run.

The only motorcycle I ever had with the side stand on the right was a 1973 Harley 350 Sprint, and it had the kick starter on the left 😳. I was forever looking for the side stand on the other side, and I had to stand beside the bike to start, it because I’m not coordinated enough to kick start one with my left leg 😆😆🤪.

From viewing a few videos of electric scooters, the range is never as stated in the specifications. Whatever range is actually achievable will then gradually decline over a few years. If you are a very green person this may be an option, but with all the gas guzzlers still going about I have no qualms about running a petrol for a few more years. Still a lot more green than taking 1.5 to 2 tonnes of car with one occupant to work every day.

I do not know if you are asking on this video because you want to know for this bike? I can not answer it from that angle as this is a review bike I do not own it. IF you are asking in general then just call up one of the well known motorcycle specific insurers and get quotes. The average will be what it will cost you. Do not use comparison sites! @seismic6402 2 жыл бұрын
If I feel I need ABS for what I want to do I would have no qualms paying and extra grand for it, but I see what you are saying, for £4k to £5k here, you aren't getting a scooter with ABS that you could confidently commute on for the majority of the year. It depends on where your priorities lie, whether it be green credentials, speed, safety, running costs, maintenance costs etc. It should all be factored in, but whether buyers do or not is another matter.

On the indicators, you young riders have been spoiled, when I started riding in the 70s you had to return the switch to the centre position to cancel, no one had a problem, no one complained, so sorry but they do belong on a motorcycle, just because they came up with the push to cancel doesn't mean that's the only way, granted its a bit easier, but it's nothing we older rides didn't deal with on a day to day basis 🤷🏻‍♂️

Issue is false advertising and misleading, a 125cc engine is around 12kw. This is only 4kw and closer on power to a 50cc moped deresticted for top speed.
@spicy110
@spicy110 2 жыл бұрын
If the specs have the true figures it is not either of those things legally speaking. 125cc is a displacement amount not a KW fig and as such some 125cc engines put out 25BHP and other 6. I mean criticize it all you wish but keep to the facts.
@seismic6402
@seismic6402 2 жыл бұрын
I'm not an expert, but the way the power is delivered is different. Comparing the kW figure I don't think is entirely accurate in determining power equivalence being delivered to the wheels. The SuperSoco has a hub motor, so the power is going directly to the wheel and will also produce a lot less heat than a petrol scooter. No doubt it is less powerful, but it is an electric bike with green credentials at the end of the day. You would not get a 50cc petrol getting to 60mph or getting up steep hills at 30mph, even if derestricted.
