Time to test the Super Soco CPX 125cc equivalent electric scooter in a real world range test, on mixed roads...very mixed roads! It was only while editing I realised I have been way harder on the CPX that I realised so these results are even more impressive!

Something to mention: the miles on the scooter are usually slightly off from the real (GPS) distance.

A tip to try regarding regen, if you have the ability to customise regen on a bike then try this setup. Its normally more efficient to coast to a stop than regen to a stop. So its worth trying to set up a bike to have no throttle close regen and only have regen when using the brakes.
@checkyourfax
@checkyourfax Жыл бұрын
you can't. the engine is permanently fitted on the wheel, so the resistance will always be there. you can't coast on an electric bike that has the engine directly on the wheel.
@CodeZombie
@CodeZombie Жыл бұрын
@@checkyourfax Sure you can, assuming the bike uses an IPM motor, then if the windings are not energised the motor will not have any real resistance other than friction.

Please on the full review remember to use the other power modes and see if somehow they have the power mode setups reversed and 3 was eco and to respond to the person who said that the battery should drain evenly remember you can remove the batteries and charge them independently so that is why they drain One battery and then the other so that way you're only discharging One battery so you can take that battery out plug it in go right around a little bit come back and retrieve that battery and have it be charged up it's so that way if you were doing deliveries or something and having to hot swap the batteries out to be able to maximize the usage out of each battery or so that way you run off the charge of One battery and then pull it out plug it in to charge it up and leave the other battery in and run on the other battery well out doing some deliveries that is actually what this thing was specifically built for was for being a delivery machine.

hi to all! what would you choose? chinese 2250€ 125 scooter or this at 4500 € (we sadly do not ev get grants on two wheels)??? cheers! martin

get a 2250 petrol scooter if you care about uphill speed. The CPX dips to 40-45 mph on medium uphill roads. It's downright dangerous to drive on a motorway that has any sort of uphill challenge.

@@checkyourfax Thanks for advice! I will leave it up to next season. It is pretty flat, where I live. And cold winters too.

I honestly think, even if it's overheating, it needs to be able to pull away to keep you from getting into a dangerous situation. And then flash and shout at you that it needs a moment to cool off so please for the love of god pull over. Even if it risks damaging it, the bike's replaceable, you're not. That and the hill start thing is a massive nono. If it's smart enough to not put power down while the brakes pulled, it's smart enough to recognize it's on a hill and apply a small amount as you release the brake.
@CodeZombie
@CodeZombie 3 жыл бұрын
My guess is its not overheating, rather that the amount of energy needed to pull away in the gravel was more than the depleted battery was able to deliver, hence the warning. I've over heated the motor on my bike on track days, and it generally does not affect start line performance, but does affect top end. However if my bike is on the last 1-2% of its battery then it can do exactly what this bike did.
@ConfusedRaccoon
@ConfusedRaccoon 3 жыл бұрын
@@CodeZombie thats pretty scary imo. Is there any sort of warning that indicates the possibility of the bike not pulling away while at low battery? I can understand the lowering of the top speed but like, I guess you just have to find out the hard way not to ride it under, say, 7% or something.
@CodeZombie
@CodeZombie 3 жыл бұрын
@@ConfusedRaccoon Dunno, never managed to have it happen on my Zero, but thats a lot bigger and more powerful bike. If it does not have enough power to pull away, then the bike is literally out of power and its push it home o'clock time... ;) I suspect if the Soco drained from both batteries it might help solve, or make the issue less likely, to happen. I was quite surprised it drained from only one battery at a time.

The problem with this scooter is that they spent so much technology in a totally stupid system for its batteries. You cannot have two HUGE batteries (90ah total) and not use them at the same time. The capacity of any battery depends on the discharge rate. So when you have 2 batteries working at the SAME time you have LESS discharge amperes coming out from each of them. So without doing anything you have LONGER range. I managed to HACK this and use them both at the same time. Also was able to connect more. As for the courier services they mentioned when they designed this nonsense, you can have 2 batteries have the first one charging and use the other one. Even so if BOTH were used you could charge them at short intervals when the bike would return to its base. Another thing is that this is the first bike that not only doesn't have Regenerative braking but also ALLOWS both power and brakes to be applied....

puntofato Hi! Could you please post a video about hacking the batteries to use both the same time and how much longer last (in Miles) the batteries? I am thinking to use a third battery for longer range. What do you think about the idea?
@puntofato
@puntofato 2 жыл бұрын
@@eusebiuorbai146 I have done that and the range has gone to more than 200km. Check my channel for proof. I have ordered a new controller to install as well. I am getting rid of all its stupidity once and for all.

Soco should change this bike to drain both batteries at the same time, this would solve a some of the low power issues you encountered.

You can hack the battery controller to do this. A french guy made a video how he hacked the battery controller to run both batteries at the same time.
