I like it really very much my KD-C1. I have second battery after years of daily use and everything works perfectly. No mods needed, just program it and go. just be noted > there is few upgraded models like KD-C1 Plus and KD-C2 even. I did not tested yet. :)

Its considered as SRRS or Short Range Radio Services in my country, the Philippines since it is only a merely 2 watts radio. Any radio that is 2 watts and below is an SRRS.

Testing these cute little radios under singular, idealized conditions is like rolling a ball downhill and saying "Look how far it goes!" Your results WILL vary. Possibly by a lot. I have these. 16 channel. I always considered them only two watts. Small antenna. Charger port broke on one of them (glove compartment bumps).

Once you plug in the standard 2-prong programming cable, if not working in CHIRP - on a Windows PC, go to CONTROL PANEL - DEVICE MANAGER - then go to the tab/drop down menu PORTS - from here you should see what COM Port number the USB Serial cable is on. In the CHIRP software, make sure the COM port is the same.
