Seth Rogen, who plays the cop with the mustache, started writing this movie when he was 13 with his longtime friend and writing partner, Evan Goldberg (hence the two main characters Seth & Evan). When they were able to make the movie years later, Rogen felt he looked too old to play Seth in high school, and so Jonah Hill played the part; ironically they were both the same age - 25 at the time.

Zack Morris was a character on "Saved by the Bell," known for being a bleach blonde heartthrob. Orson Welles was a famous actor, writer, and director. In 1941, he appeared in the film Citizen Kane, seen by some as the greatest film ever made. He became one of a select few to receive Oscar nominations for Best Picture as producer, directing, acting, and writing, all for the same film. What they're talking about is that he was only 26 years old when he made "Citizen Kane," and still holds the record as the second-youngest nominee for directing in Oscar history. As a result, while he had a long career, many felt that he peaked too early.

I LOVE YOUR LAUGH!!! You have such a hearty laugh and it's incredibly endearing, James. Excellent editing job. I bought my first car at 18, in 2001. It was a 4-door manual '94 Honda Civic LX, and I bought it with my own money off some listing in PennySaver. That car was the embodiment of freedom to me! I drove everywhere. I even lived in that car for several months as a rebellious 19 year old. A friend of mine named it Mook. Sadly, her transmission went out in 2011 and I had to sell her to a junk yard. May she rest.

My first car was given to me when I was 19, in 2008. It was a 4-door manual '75 Peugeot 406 1.9L TD saloon. It had an oil leak the whole time I owned it, and the power steering gave out after about 4 months and I couldn't afford to get it fixed. It was a good runner, costs me thousands to insure it, but hey it was free lol.

The thing I love about this movie is the realism of it. Most coming of age high school stuff make characters much older, smarter, wiser and charming. They go through some great transformation of becoming a better person or they learn invaluable life lesson. When reality for me and most people I know we were dumb teenagers in high school. We were not most like able people, we did dumb stuff all the time with terrible priorities. They do over top stuff but they are not that exaggerated of characters of how ridiculous we can be at that age.

My first car, I bought but never drove. The first car I owned and drove was an '89 Chevy Beretta. It was around 2001-2002. I drove that car for nine years, then bought a '93 Beretta, which just had nicer interior. Then I bought an Astro Van, that was all decked out with a bed, fridge, sink, and sound system. Then I bought a '94 Silverado with a bored out 350, custom rims with Mickey's on them, and had to free up space; so afrer 11 years, I drove my first car to the junkyard, because the price for scrap was higher than the blue book value, lol. That is the tale of my first car. I wasn't allowed to get my license until I was a legal adult.

My first car was an Oldsmobile Intrigue. It died slowly on me. First, no AC - a big no-no in South Florida. Then the power steering started going. One day I pulled into a toll plaza, braked, paid the toll, and could barely accelerate out. Transmission died on me then and there and I barely made it off the highway. A cop had to help me push it out of the exit ramp and onto the sidewalk.

My first car was a 1976 Chevy Nova 2 door. It was my great grandmothers and she only used it to go to the post office like once a week. She ended up having Alzheimer's and moved in with my grandparents and never drove again. When I bought it from her, or from my grandpa actually, it only had 76,000 miles on it and that was in 1998 when I was 16. I'm now 41. I miss that car so much! It had air shocks in the back so I could pump them up or down and make it look even more badass. Had an old straight six in it. What a great engine. I always wanted to hold onto that car and someday rebuild it, put a v8 in it, you know all the bells and whistles... Man I miss that car so much!

In 1995 my first car was a 1979 Honda Accord that someone gave to me for free because it was a junker. It was the first car that I drove that didn’t have power steering and when I first drove it I thought the steering was broken. On cold mornings I’d have to sit in the car for at least 10 minutes with my foot on the gas to warm the engine up, it would stall if I took my foot off the gas. The sunroof leaked and it smelled like mould in there. It didn’t have a clutch but was a semi-automatic so it had a low and high drive gear. No a/c. Heat might work after 45 minutes.

I grew up in Vancouver, not far from where Seth Rogan and his writing partner, Evan Goldberg, went to school at West Point Grey High. Most of the characters are based on real life people they went to school with. Steve Glanzberg and Steve Fogel (McLovin in the movie) were interviewed by the local news right after this came out. They're not as nerdy as they're portrayed in the movie. This is hardly an accurate account of their high school years, but in terms of capturing what school was like in the late 90s and early 2000s, it's pretty spot on - except for the stuff with the cops, obviously. There are references that people in Vancouver would get - like the liquor store that used to be on that corner on Granville Street. This is really what American Pie should have been. It has its wild, over the top moments, but a lot of the in-school scenes are very realistic, as wild as they are. I went to a Christian school for 2 years, and when the teacher wasn't looking, a lot of the behaviour depicted in the movie was spot on. If anything, it was wilder than this movie. You get a bunch of repressed teenagers who were taught the "six inch rule" on the daily, and this is what you get.

Your reaction to Apollo 13 was a couple of months ago so I'm posting this here for a better shot at you seeing it. Re: non fiction books, here are three you should definitely check out, as the stories are as gripping and suspenseful as any well written fiction. (or they were to me, I dunno what your taste leans toward) 1.) Shadow Divers. The tagline on the cover is only a mild spoiler that says "The true adventure of two Americans who risked everything to solve one of the last mysteries of WW2" and I won't spoil it any further. 2.) Treasure in A Corn Field. Tagline: "The Discovery and Excavation of the Steamboat Arabia." (There's actually a museum in the heart of Kansas City run by the author and his sons and it's incredible) 3.) Devil in the White City. Tagline: "Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair That Changed America." (I think this had a theatrical release with Leonardo diCaprio but if it did, I didn't see it) And three nonfiction movies (.....well...."based on true events" is honestly as close as you can really get to "nonfiction movies" tbh so there IS a bit of artistic license) that I didn't see in your collection....and all three come with a CAUTIONARY NOTE but as they're a part of history, (and extremely well put together) you should absolutely watch them anyway: Edit: TWO "non-fiction" movies and one hell of a historical drama 1.) The Tuskegee Airmen. (only inaccurate in that the main characters are mash-ups of several different real people, the rest is more or less fine) 1995, Lawrence Fishburne. Tagline: "They were our country's best defense...and it's greatest glory." (sub: "Based on the true story of the 332nd Fighter Squadron." CAUTIONARY NOTE: Historically accurate use of the n-word. (About seven of 'em, I kept track) and hard, hard truths about what it meant to be a black man in the 40's. 2.) ....you know I was originally going to say "Dances With Wolves" but then I remembered that while the overall societal culture and attention to detail are pretty much true to history, the story and all the characters are completely made u--you know what screw it, I'mma recc it anyway.....1990, Kevin Costner. Tagline: "The civil war had ended, but one man's battle with himself was just beginning..." CAUTIONARY NOTE: It's long. It's very long. It's very, very, very, very long. The theatrical release was shorter than Titanic though. (Three hours, 1 minute) but you can really get caught up in the story. The directors cut (which fleshes out the characters and history a bit more and worth it in my opinion) is just under 4 hours. 3.) Schindler's List. 1993 (being re-released Dec of this year) Liam Neeson and Ben Kingsley. Tagline: There isn't a tagline. There are not adequate words for a tagline. If I personally had to give it one, it'd be "One more person." This movie makes every single list (no pun intended) of best movies ever made, consistently ranked in the top 3. Although Spielberg did tone down the violence to make the film more palatable, he pulls no punches with what he does. I consider it kind of like a bookend to "Hacksaw Ridge" in terms of presenting the worst....and the best....of mankind in a time of war. CAUTIONARY NOTE: This will be the hardest movie you will ever sit through in your life. There's no way to prepare for the stark reality, and no way to brace for the pure brutality.

"I don't know who any of these people are..." Lol, they are a bit obscure. Orson Welles is a famous actor (Citizen Kane), also well known for his War of the Worlds radio broadcast. He was a bit eccentric 😅 Zack Morris was the lead character on Saved By The Bell, a TV show from the 80's and 90's. To sum up, imagine a very handsome blonde surfer boy and you're pretty close 😎 The actor who plays him - Mark-Paul Gosselaar - is very funny in the movie Dead Man on Campus.

First car, 1969 Chevy Impala 2 door, 2 tone, black vinyl top. It had the largest trunk I've ever seen, great for sneaking people into the drive in movies before they started charging per car instead of person.

First car was a 1977 Ford Granada Sport Coupe we called the Grey Goose. I tinted the rear windows, repainted it silver and got a flowmaster exhaust for that little 302 to scream out of. I was quite happy with it! Oh and the roof had a custom 3x3 foot moonroof carved out of it. Was pretty rad.

If you like Sambucca, have you ever tried Grappa ? Italian white brandy basically. Strong like Sambucca. When I was a fancy bartender 30 years ago I made a cocktail called a Flaming Lambourghini made from Sambucca. I made it with martini glasses touching lip to lip and lit one on fire and the flame goes across all four glasses, then I put the fire out by layering cream off a spoon on to it. But go look for some genuine Italian Grappa some time.

My first car was a 1988 Ford Tempo. I was 17 and in high school (1996-ish). I saved up $700, and my dad drove me to a car auction. He gave me a rundown on how an auction worked and let me bid on my own (giving me pointers and suggestions, of course). I didn't even know it was a stick until we'd already purchased it. Dad can't drive stick. Hell... I can't drive stick. So we called mom. On a payphone. You see, kids... Payphones were these public phon-- whatever. I stayed with the car. Dad drove and got mom... Who came back and drove me and my new piece of sh car home... teaching me.

I had a Hyundai Excel and it was an amazing little shitbox. $10 filled it up and it run for two weeks on that. The best car was this Chevy compact with an aluminum or something body, like a delorean. Somebody had made the dash lights all red. It didn't run worth a shit but was cool AF.
