35:17 Thats a real quote from a man named Dan Daly. He shouted it before charging the Germans in WW1 at the battle of Belleau Wood.

“Starship Troopers” is no longer so satirical in 2024: in the opening classroom scene, the teacher explored the failure of democracy and how the social scientists had brought the world to the brink of chaos. We are seeing that unfold in the USA right now as the “woke” agenda and “progressive” mandates have gutted traditional family values and shredded the fabric of society, even as a fascist Biden government has weaponized the FBI and Department of Justice and Internal Revenue Service against its political opponents. As a result, American culture has degenerated to the point where people have apparently abandoned reason and common sense, and can no longer even define what a “woman” is, trans men are dominating women’s sports, and our “educators” and governmental officials have deemed words like “mother” to be offensive, and therefore to be replaced by phrases such as “birthing parent.” Our current crop of social “scientists” have indeed done a great job of tearing down and destroying societal norms, and we are all worse off as a result. Absurdity and insanity have now become our new reality…

35:20 the line, “C’mon you apes, you want to live forever?!” Was not written for the movie. It’s a quote. The line was originally spoken by US Marine sergeant Dan Daly, one of only two U.S. Marines to win two Medal of Honors for separate actions. It was spoken during WWI.

It is based on a book by Robert A. Heinlein. He was also a former naval officer in addition to being a sci fi writer. A lot of people considered him an extreme right winger because of the book and some ideas of his. However, he also wrote “Stranger in a Strange Land.” A book considered to be very left wing/counter culture.

Fun fact. Dragon's name is Elizabeth and she became a unicorn when they took the potion. Puss is a Zorro reference. They had a COPS reference and an OJ Simpson reference too. Mongo was a reference to Blazing Saddles, Ghost Busters, and Frankenstein. Far Far Away is a play on Hollywood.

Get out? You chose to have kids. If I choose not be be responsible I become your responsibility. That's how parenthood works. Don't like it? Should have gotten a dog instead of forcing a child into your world of moral bankruptcy and self-interest.

I enjoy this movie but the constant wasting of ammo always gets to my head...The movie explains there are sixteen you don't see for each one that you do...why use a whole clip on just one??? Oh well. That's Verhoven for you...still a great movie.

One of the very few times a movie was adapted from a book, was only vaguely like the source material, and still turned out to be a great flick.

True to the source movie = Art film $. Quick history of media, most of the rules were and still made by conservative boards in early TV shows, married couples slept in separate beds, today corporation want to play it safe, real safe even if the source material takes chances, they not no pun they Disney-FY it, and Disney did release a Disney clean version of Deadpool it SUCKED. Corporate wants mass appeal family friendly =🤑 Please look up the history of the leaked trailer for this movie that wasn't in production or approved

29:48 the batteries for the “detonator” actually were dead. This little scene wasn’t in the script. George Clooney and Matt Damon improvised their lines. The batteries were actually used to power the little lights on a the “detonator”.

Starship Troopers is great fun and I'm not sure why it kind of bombed when it was released, I'm guessing if I looked up what movies it was up against I might have a clue. It's the first movie that had pretty convincing CGI, in my opinion. I thought the leads all did a great job and the secondary characters like the teacher and drill instructor were great.

How can Denise Richard’s character even move that arm or not bleed out from the 2 inch wide spike that went through her shoulder blade. Barely even any pain responses.
