No surprise here RME doing what they do best making quality products. Now this audio interface doubles as a standalone digital mixer with all that RME goodness.

One thing i miss from the more expensive RME units is the 2 headphone outputs. Is the single one powerful enough to use a splitter and run 2 sets of identical phones? Or would that reduce the sound quality? Having to use a separate headphone amp just for 2 people to listen at the same time kind of defeats the size/portability and cost of this unit

Absolutely! For that very reason I am going with the UCX II over the BabyFace Pro FS and the UFX II. I like the fact that it is truly portable and can record live situations onto a fat 32 external hardrive or USB drive and ALL channels will be labels once you import the files into your DAW. Plus the UCX II has tech from the big brothers into a smaller form factor. You can also have multiple users on an ipad recording their own parts, that is slick ! There are 16 analog ports and 24 digital. Plus you can expand through the Madi Ports. Seems like a win to me.

hello I have a RME ucx2 I wanted to ask you I usually turn it on and then turn it off before turning off the computer, right? or do I directly remove the general power supply without turning off the card by holding down the key? I know maybe it's a stupid question but that power button scares me a bit I would have preferred something more analog.

This is just simple common knowledge he SHOULD have ready for customers that visits his booth. This always ALWAYS happens on every event. Why people continue to not be ready with information at every event. Also I wish, The Fireface UCXII was the same size as the Presonus Studio Mobile 192 and the LED screen was bigger.... I do love the M32 AD Pro though... It would be great for using analogue synths with DAWs. :) Since everything will eventually go to Digital these days.

@Mtaalas

I'm electronics designer. It's because it's pure BS. Physics dictates that at the bandwidth required (20khz+) the noise floor is so high that you can't, (I repeat: you CAN'T) use more than about 22bits of the 32bit converter. It's a limit of physics, there's just thermal and other noise below those limits and the 32bit converters for audio recording are pure BS that give you zero benefit from 24bit converters. You can have 32bit conversion only on very low bandwidths (

@@UpandDownRacing you can't put a price tag on absolute reliability and longevity. RME supports their old hardware liek nobody's business, you can have drivers for windows 10 that still work flawlessly for stuff they released 15+ years ago, MOTU drops their support fast for older models to sell you new ones. And RME drivers are rock solid. I've never used any interface with such a flawless execution. I've done gigs with them where they've been running 24/7 for over a week with no hiccup, not even once. I can't get that with any other manufacturer, and boy have I tried. It's not all about IO counts / dollar (or euro?) when you're a professional. And RME knows who they're selling to, if you're an RME customer, you already have racks and racks of high end mic pres and ADAT stuff etc. You just need something's rock solid to connect that stuff you your PC. Or you need absolute reliability in critical environment and hassle free system. Because time is money and every hour dealing with issues might cost you thousands of dollars in many environments, or be absolutely business destroying. You think it's expensive? You're not RME customer and you don't need their devices for your application or production. I do.
@UpandDownRacing

@@Mtaalas Wow, what a rude comment. i'm sharing my opinion that for what it is i think it's expensive!! Good for you if it works for you. i have previously owned a fireface 800 in my studio and had massive latency problems with it and i happily spent more on my UAD x8 for the studio to replace it but that offers quite a bit more in terms of dsp. But with rude fanboys like you i'm sure RME customers will be rolling in. W&nker!
@Mtaalas
@Mtaalas 2 жыл бұрын
@@UpandDownRacing what kind of latency problems? If you had badly setup computer, that's not on RME, it's on you. Low latency audio isn't simple or easy and to get it right you need to dwell into specific 1394-chipset used (TI has one particular one that is needed for audio work), on what physical PCI/PCIe bus it's connected to so it get's priority access to your CPU (check the PCI/PCIe layout and IRQ's on your motherboards manual), what display adapter or network adapter you have (some have badly behaving drivers that increase DPC-latencies and can cripple your audio production PC if you need low latencies), what specific drivers you use on all the hardware in the computer so they behave properly etc. etc. etc. Unless you did the hard work and are an expert on the subject, and even then RME had issues... sure, blame RME. Meanwhile I'm running one fireface 800 on my other system with low latencies and there's no issues with it, none. And i've had none with RME since I started using them personally or when I've used them on gigs. Obviously after I did all the necessary steps to ensure it runs as good as it can, have been done on the systems they run on. As you shoudl do on any audio production PC. Real time audio isn't easy or simple because the x86/x64 PC architecture hasn't been designed for it.
