Lucy makes her short course triathlon debut in the SuperLeague Arena Games, London! Follow her journey to race day with adapted last minute training, practice on the curved treadmill, and some more intense sessions!

So amazed how an elite iron-man racer managed second in a half hour race, that's a such range of skill

If you think of the physiology, it’s actually quite easy.

Once you get past 1600m or so, the world record paces don’t change much from 1mile to the marathon. It shows how the body’s ability to continually reproduce ATP is extremely efficient.

@@paulop3730 well does bike speed and swim speed have the same roll-off that running does? Also the impressive part is that for this event, the transition is so much more important than for half or full IM, so that really adds to Lucy's achievement

@@paulop3730 I'd disagree, completely different training zones and requirements on muscles fibres. Normally slow twitch muscle fibres will make a great Iron distance racer and a higher portion of fast twitch for someone doing short course. As well as the mental/strategy side which she talks about throughout

@@paulop3730 Quite easy, you say. If memory serves me right there was an IM winner in the previous female field, and she did not produce the same results as Lucy.

These types of videos are awesome. I enjoy watching the lead-up to a race as much, if not more, then the actual race video. BYW: watching the Super League live was fun also since I too ran on treadmill and used bicycle trainer while watching.. Thanks.

I simply LOVED the adrenaline pumping in this arena! This could indeed be a key for engaging more public towards Triathlon ... but please keep also the 70.3 and full distance ;-). Amazing how you can do both ends of the spectrum ... I'm "flabbergasped"

Super League makes it easy to follow the competitors with the color coordinated suits. It's helpful on Zwift and also in the pool. My daughter - 8 yr old - loved watching you, Lucy. We were like, just follow the red one. We were cheering when you soared ahead. Please keep doing Super League! :)

That was convincingly good. Would not have ranked you top 3. The swimming part was top notch as always but maybe too short to get much out of it. Considering it was your first time, a new experience concerning not only the format but also the devices (treadmills) it was a huge display of strength from your side. I'm flabbergasted :).

I really loved watching the event and I thought you did brilliantly! I think this style of racing will bring the sport to a new level. It’s so spectator friendly. Once we’re allowed....spectators...😐 Congratulations!

Well done. Great racing and shows the speed is there. Would definitely love to see you racing the SLT at one of the outdoor venues where some more skills and tactics come in to play but shown the capability to be in the mix is well and truly there. Top bombing LCB!

I pretty much said the same thing about the lane ropes. Flash buggers. Not sure how I'd feel if I was an elite athlete doing all the press and race interval interviews. A credit to all of you and your focus and professionalism.

The race was a really good watch, well done Lucy. How does the swim lane to treadmill / bike distances even out across all competitors. Seams like with the time gaps being so small it is something that should be considered.

That was an awesome race. Congrats on 2nd. Here's a bet for ya! If you win Kona this year, you can have two new Lola's. If you finish 2nd or worse, you have to do a cannonball off the 10m platform with several Gopro angles with sound. I wish they would have shown the para-athletes race, instead of highlights. Again, Congrats and see you in Kona, everyone hopes! Slainte!
