Gene Hackman was actually amazing in this movie both him and Christopher Reeve

So much for a Fortress of Solitude. Now the IRS will come knocking.

This is such a vital scene. It shows that Superman isn't a killer (since the last we see of the Kryptonian Villians are them falling into a bottomless crevice in the fortress, and in the Richard Donner Cut, before Supes destroys the fortress) and that Lex gets back in Prison. I guess Donner left this out because the scene was incomplete (in the sense that we only see a distant glance at the powerless villians being taken away), I'm sure Donner would have shot some close ups and dialogue between Superman and the villians post defeat if he was allowed to.

Imagine going back to the early 1980s and watching this scene on the big screen, the first panoramic flying shot over the ice, with the amazing orchestral score would have been an incredible moment. Thank you Pinewood

Why didn't this scene make it into any of the versions of the movie? It at least explains what happedned to Lex Louthor. And why we see him in prison on Superman 4.

Whoever edited this originally for the TV broadcast seems to have reversed the scenes of Superman and Lois leaving the fortress - it goes from a long shot well past the Fortress and then back to them exiting close by the front. But it is an important scene even if the original time-reversal ending for II would make none of this matter. It would matter for Lester since he didn't reverse time - but Lester cut as much Donner footage as possible (even when it didn't make sense) to make the film his own.

Even though in the extended version of Superman 2 the Fortress of Solitude was destroyed after making the 3 Kryptnian renegades powerless.& turning them & Lex Luthor over to the law,it was seen again & rebuilt in Superman 4:The Quest For Peace.

I don't care about the acetic police knowing where the fortress of solitude as long as they took Luthor away so this could explain why Luthor is back in prison on Superman IV the quest for peace.

I glad that Superman didn't leave Luthor by himself at his fortress of solitude at his home. I wish they put that scene in the movie.

This scene may give more detail to the story, but it's poorly shot, performed and directed. I'm glad it was officially cut. We don't need to see Lex getting arrested. And he says "the Smallville Strongboy", 0:20 which means he knows Superman's identity? That's an obvious mistake by the writer! Also, if Donner wasn't able to shoot close-ups and dialogue of the Kryptonians being arrested, then there's really no need for this scene.

A shame that it hasn't been revealed if Zod, Non & Ursa were being sent to separate prisons or in the same prison after they were taken out of the Fortress after they lost their powers for good to pay for their crimes against humanity. If Superman heard that those 3 renegade Kryptonian killers were attacked by other convicts for threatening the entire Earth, he probably wouldn't visit them anyway.

Were I Lex Luther, the moment I was placed in the vehicle with the kryptonian criminals, I would punch Ursa in face as hard as I could. I wouldn’t hurt Zod or Non because even with no Superpowers, they would still be stronger than myself.

Another deleted scene has Superman finding every member of the Arctic Patrol later that evening. He then proceeds to passionately kiss each one thus deleting the memory of his Fortress location.

The three Krypotonians could have well suffered the han solo treatment to be frozen in time before they hit the ground considering the mythical powers of the crystal fortress

I wish they put that scene in this movie because it explain what happened to Luthor instead of just leaving Luthor at Superman's place and Superman's home and why Luthor was back in prison on Superman 4, I like Superman 4 because with high school physicals Superman found out while recovering where Luthor's foul creature was getting his powers from and that how Superman able to beat Luthor's foul creature and Superman send Luthor back to prison.

Enjoyed most of the Christopher Reeves supermans. Except the one where the nuclear man flies a young reporter out to space. And her hair is blowing. Firstly no air no wind and no gravity. She would either suffocate or bleed out, both actually. Super man 4 could of had a much better story line.

This deleted scene was supposed to show that Zod, Ursa, & Non had survived!! Didn't see that at all here!! They died. The actor that played Non (Jack O'Halloran) just did an interview saying the 3 villains had survived at the end of Superman II.

Hold it. How is Luthor walking around in a regular coat-and-tie suit at the North Pole? I get that Superman isn't affected by the extreme cold due to his Kryptonite physiology, and perhaps he's extending his "warmth shield" to Lois somehow if you want to stretch that belief. But the cops are all dressed to the nines in thick winter gear. Also, the Kryptonians, now that they're depowered should be feeling the extreme cold right about now. And why did Luthor playfully refer to Superman as "The Smallville Strongboy"? Did he know that Superman was really Clark Kent, mild-mannered reporter for a Metropolitan newspaper from Smallville? No wonder this scene was cut: too many inconsistencies and questions, and no tone to reshoot it.
