Issue #1 of Superman's Girlfriend Lois Lane really set the tone for the whole series. Lois Lane takes some time off from The Daily Planet to write a human interest story. The twist of course it's to try and find a way to marry Superman. This story ignited a love for the madness of Silver Age Lois Lane that has been part of this channel from very early on. The comic was so close to having Superman be sweet with him helping out Lois with cooking and coming back to taste her food, and they STILL found a way for him to be an awful person by the end. Lmao I love this series.

Interestingly, what is now called Superman ice cream predates the superhero and was probably invented during Prohibition. The real mystery is also not what the red and yellow colors are (usually cherry for red and vanilla or lemon for yellow) but the flavor of the blue color called blue moon, the ingredients of which remain a secret to this day.

Sadly the closest we've gotten is an episode of the animated Batman the Brave and the Bold series where an entire episode was dedicated to those old comics that featured Superman doing something heinous on the cover.

As former Midwesterner, the ice cream is the same as "Superman" ice cream, whose composition was pretty variable depending on the store/brand. The most consistent was the blue, which as the (also Midwest specific) Blue Moon flavor. Which tasted like blue. Just roll with it. Red is strawberry or cherry (I think). Yellow is the most variable, usually lemon or vanilla.

Man, this was such a humble start for a series that gos on to have kryptonian xylophones, Satan marriage, and the time stream bending like a pretzel. Ironically, the most famous meal Lois cooked for Clark was Beef Bourguignon in Superman #296. And it was cooked for Clark sincerely, it wasn’t part of some hair brained marriage scheme.

Superman's girlfriend Lois Lane is a grate example why it's importante to preserve media for future generations, becouse we all know that this masterpiece of madness will never be repeated but it's too fun to let it disappear

The chain restaurant Friendly's serves a very similar Superman ice cream. The blue is "blue moon" flavor, sort of a marshmallow bubble gum cross, the red is "red pop", sort of a fruity soda flavor, and the yellow seems to be colored vanilla, though some say it's banana. No blueberry as far as I can tell.

Doesn't Superman love cake? He had 40 of them for Lex Luthor to steal after all. Astro City Shining Armor is a story with the premise of paying homage/deconstruction of the Superman's Girlfriend Lios Lane comics. Might be fun if you did a review of it and what it has to say.

The answer is in the statement! The ice creams in Lois's Super Sundae are redberry, yellowberry, and blueberry! Lois just shortened the statement a bit because as a reporter she tries to be concise. (And yes, I did get 'A's' in Rationalization Class.)

Lol the burnt steak immediately took me to a KZfaq music video someone made, utilizing clips from Lois & Clark NAS , & Shania Twain’s song Any Man of Mine , specifically the line that goes…🎶 When I’m cooking dinner if I burn it black , he better say mmm yeah I like it like that 🎶. & the clip shows Lois serving Clark a piece of burnt roast. Have you read Action Comics # 454, (from 1975) called "Superman's Energy Crisis", where Supes is feeling weak and goes to 'McTavish's' fast food restaurant, where he begins gobbling up burgers. He eats 60 burgers per minute, commenting, "Constant eating is the only way I can keep replacing the millions of calories I burn up using my super powers." He says it will take most of Clark Kent's salary to pay for all this food.

7:00 Y'know, one of the more notorious Kryptonian animals is the metal-eater. Clark's even got one in his zoo at the Fortress of Solitude, which raises a whole lot of questions about where he got it and how. Not sure if Lois could have seen the thing in what passes for continuity back then, but it's possible - she has visited the fortress on occasions, as well as time-travelling to Krypton before the Big Boom. And she might have just heard about it. So perhaps Clark eating saltshakers is not a completely insane thing by Lois' reasoning?

The Red and Yellow Ice Cream reminds me of the Italian Ice truck that used to come around my neighborhood as a kid where they had regular flavors like Cherry, Lemon, Green Apple, but the blue ice was just called "Sky Blue". It was blue flavored.

I really feel like ever vain, self-aggrandizing creator in modern comics should be accompanied by a persona assistant whose sole job is to remind them that no matter they do, their work will never sell as well as Superman's Girlfriend Lois Lane did. Kind of like Roman generals had a servant assigned to reminding them they were mortal all the time, but with Silver Age comics references. "There's a whole issue about Lois working in a diner to get Superman to marry her. And it sold more issues than your last miniseries."

Up next: Superman helps out as an assistant chef at the Krusty Crab! But Mermaidman and Barnicle Boy don’t get to try that food out, either. This also explains why Lois would ever marry Lex Luthor. Big thing they have in common: elaborate scheming. Check Batman v Superman for confirmation.

I found on a research dive that Superman's favorite food is Beef Bourguignon with Ketchup. So I'm pretty sure he isn't going to care about a burned steak. He would probably smother it in ketchup anyway.

2:22 To be honest, the impending coronary in a vest there isn't at all qualified to give "Advice for the Lovelorn" but since his legal name is actually Joseph Peter Romance, Perry decided he'd give him the job anyway. I feel like "I married for food" isn't exactly a secret with the guy, though.
