The lead-off single from Supergrass 3rd and eponymous LP was released in May 1999 and reached number 11 in the UK charts. The Muppets-inspired video was directed by Hammer Tongs AKA Garth Jennings & Nick Goldsmith who also directed such classics as Blur's "Coffee & TV" and Fatboy Slim's "Demons". They also directed the feature films "Son of Rambow" and "The Hitchikers Guide To The Galaxy". In 2019 it also appeared in the soundtrack for the Netflix series "Sex Education".

@@quietatse It’s so funny you say that. Last Kiss by Pearl Jam just randomly popped into my head earlier tonight. It was one of the first songs I learned on acoustic guitar when I was in junior high school. Weird how these songs just come back to us.

@@funkyfiss Gosh I have a very vague memory of it... But I will say it anyway. Ummm... I remember that they were like 4 members and the lead singer (who was a man) had curly (brown or blonde I guess, I am not completely sure) hair and I remember them playing in a garage or some sort (it's resemblance fits with Grace music video from Supergrass). And the only detail that I remember much better than any other is that some part of the music video; as the band were playing, the lyrics of some lines were also shown on the ground or... (BTW I am not sure if it's from the 90s or 00s cause I saw it in 2009 2010 on MTV or VH1 back then when I was a teenager...) Sorry if I typed too long. Thank you for asking by the way!

Danny and Gaz were rocking at a fairly high level from the age of 14-ish...putting in their "rock n roll apprenticeship" with the most excellent JENNIFERS...then, stepped their game up nicely with SUPERGRASS! Great stompin Bowie-inspired rocker here!!!

@@theothertonydutch Now now, It's not like I just listen to 90s music. I like a lot of music from the 60s all the way up to the late 2000s. Rock music seems to not be as popular nowadays. At least actual rock music and not shitty bands like Imagine Dragons.

An amazing video using light and dark to effect and hide motion. A Henson technique developed in the late 1970's. Probably, this vid was made in Henson Studios in England. There were probably 40 people on that stage besides the band. Lol. Before CGI this was how effects were done.

When this first came out my mom swore they said humping and not pumping, and I told her she was wrong..... Watching this for the first time in years I realize she's completely correct... Reading lips at the beginning made it clear.

This is some amazing puppetry Wanna know the secret? Simple, the bodies of the musicians themselves are covered in black jumpsuits while puppeteers (also in black jumpsuits) are puppeteering the bodies and doing lots of crazy moves against a black background This is now one of my favorite songs
