I absolutely love how Mark is so strong and so accomplished, yet he doesn't act like he knows everything. He lets his guests come and teach without interruptions and even learns himself.

Idk if Mark will ever realize that losing silent Mike and Cubby was absolutely devastating. Mike was always the best part of any video or podcast and Jim is one of the best producers/cameraman in the fitness industry. I will forever rewatch these old videos and I hope they never get taken down. Thank you for making powerlifting a part of my life since 2008.

It's a great video. I've been doing his belt trick on my squats and deads and it works (Eric L recommends the high belt on squats too). The 'falling back' move before standing up on the dead helped me get a new PR and felt awesome and made the weight feel lighter to me. What a difference proper form can have, even if it's just the little things they need to fix.

That guys a freak of nature. I wouldn't listen to anything he said on the deadlift because his natural leverages are so weird he couldn't help an everyday dude with regular leverages. Maybe that's why Omar Isuf and Pete Rubish and Silent Mike, regular-seeming dudes are popular. They're relateable.

This technique helped a lot today. Laying back until just before falling and pulling bar straight to shine helped. Awkward at first but improved greatly. Performed with closer stance and grip, felt like I had more control. Being very tall 6'3, rounding my back is still a minor issue the further into the set just gotta practice concentration

It really depends on your body composition. Rarely can you look at a professional strongman’s technique and say, that’s exactly what I need to do. That being said it’s great to explore different cues and methods to help round out you athletic prowess.

I love touch and go deadlifts, it feels like they are great at building muscle. Also feels safer, since you are naturally tight if you force the exentric, and just dip the bar. Only problem i have with it is that i can do 5 reps at 95% of my max, so it feels like to does not transfer very well into one rep max, as Leeman states. A couple of weeks before maxing, i start doing regular ones, to get tight from the floor again.

I think the high belt position works for Leeman because he is able to protrude his belly just that much further and the belt keeps his belly big/low/condensed which moves his center of gravity forward and creates a big spring, much like a slingshot for the bench, out of the hole. This is probably why he is so posteriorly dominant.. It definately works for him, I don't see it working for Mike though, maybe if he worked for a long while changing a lot about his form.
@overthebar
@overthebar 6 жыл бұрын
I don't think so. IMO he is putting his belt there, cuz that's where you can push out the hardest. If you put it low, it just runs in your legs and offsets you. Also his stick analogy.
