They are the first wave of their master Apocalypse’s plan to test the world’s humanity. Believing that the gene pool has become polluted, Apocalypse’s desire was that only the strong should survive, so he created his Horseman to destroy the weak and gather the worthy survivors. To form his team of Horsemen, Apocalypse selected mutants whom he deemed worthy of the honor and altered their minds, powers and physiology to make them instruments of his will. Fun fact: Gambit became a horseman of apocalypse as a way to gain enough power to defeat apocalypse during the Messiah Complex storyline.

Fun Fact: Gambit is underrated as all hell. Basically, Marvel chose Wolverine, an over powered guy that is kinda getting tiresome, to be their anchor X-men character, and did nothing really to the other characters.

Dude the four horsemen are like the heralds of Galactus. there are just too many to pick out which ones are the most iconic. it seems like nearly every major marvel character has been a horseman at some point, I mean you talked a bit about wolverine being death but hell I think one of the hulks was war at some point (I feel like it was red hulk but I so don't remember), I even remember crossover where Apocalypse sent his team after Spawn and the whole team got their asses kicked and then Apocalypse tried to recruit Spawn!...ya know before he got his ass kicked by Spawn because Al never appreciated shit like that but still!

Those horsemen in the cartoon look like utter shit :)), but they were probably made for small kids. I prefer more dark and serious designs, like the Darksiders designs of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. /)eath and War look so badass, deadly.

Yeah, they did. I think the original names of the four horsemen, like the ones from the Bible or Apocalypse manuscript or wherever they first ever appeared, were Conquest, War, Famine & Death, even though you sometimes hear about Pestilence and other names.

ZbangzbangNoMi except for one thing the bible only names one of them which was death the pale rider. the rest was left to popular interpretations for the red rider it was very obvious and clear that the name was war but the names of the other 2 horsemen was never mentioned nor was it obvious and clear as to what the names may be.

They were actually Designed perfectly from the 1986/87 comic books. So if your ripping on the 90's cartoon versions then your ripping on the original comics as well

they forgot the most recent horsemen...although it was for the apocalypse twins. They were Banshee, Sentry, Grim Reaper and Daken. Them being the team because they were connected to members of the Uncanny Avengers (Daken- Wolverine: Father and son, Sentry-Thor: Thor killed Sentry, Grim Reaper- Wonder Man- brothers, Banshee- Havok: Havok's brother Vulcan killed Banshee) to me the most unique team came in a what if issue where Legion had killed both prof. X and magneto in the past so there was no xmen to prevent or fight during age of apocalypse. The team was Namor, Hulk, Storm and Juggernaught

I believe you have it backwards. Angel was defeated and lost his wings. Apocalypse found him and healed/upgraded him while manipulating his mind. His finished "project" was his horseman Death. It was after he broke free from Apocalypse's brainwashing that he took the name Archangel.

You know there's also a Sleepy Hollow version of this in the TV series but so far we only see three of them and the horseman of death is the headless horseman and they work for a demon named Moloch.

If we look outside the window, the Four Horsemen of Apocalypse still work today, we have War in some parts of the world, Famine and Diseases on the other side of the world and Death has become more present on TV than we expect it.

Wolverine as Death was cool during the whole Apocalypse: The Twelve story arc, especially with him getting his Adamantium back after so many years. The coolest Death however, must go to Archangel. I wonder if they'll ever do a battle of the Horsemen story arc, to decide who among them is fit to survive and become the "Strongest Horsemen" as it were. Be cool to see them all gathered together for a battle royal.

Have Death (the horseman) and Death (the phisical embodiment of the metaphysical concept, best known these days for boinking Deadpool) ever met? They're both Marvel characters, and it would still be more meta then most of DP's lines.

May I ask everyone, who are the best line-up/Incarnation/well known out of the 4 Horsemen of Apocalypse? Someone besides Archangel? Also, I wonder what Apocalypse is exactly looking for in a mutant. I mean, what makes a mutant worthy to survive with him? What makes their abilities capture Apocalypse's attention?

In the books they don't always have to be mutants they just have to be strong, i.e. Hulk, Sentry, Reaper, and death bird. But they have to be strong and and have impressive power sets, tho his Favorite is and always will be Angel

Gambit was the best horseman. The power to turn the air in the bodies of those he looks upon into radioactive nerve gas. The Hulk might be partially immune, but it's a death sentence for everyone else.

***** Ahh the old "if you don't like it don't read it" argument. Somewhat flawed by the fact of how are you supposed to know what something says BEFORE you have read it? I could write something really offensive about terrorism/genocide/rape or whatever, but then say it was down to the offended people not to read it. The world doesn't work that way. You write something, you risk getting called out on it, in this case, because it is not the time and place to be preached at. Most people click on videos about comic books to (surprise!) watch/read about comic books. Time and a place.

Coincidentally before Disney acquired Marvel Ent. For $4bn in 2009,they already owned the library of Marvel Productions (Fox Kid Network) through the acquisation of Fox Network (now ABC Family) and Saban Ent.So they could always revive the Pre-80s/90s X-Men Cartoons and Pre-60s/70s/80s/90s Spider-Man.I hope they do in futures or even turn these bad guys into their own spin-off animated show or do what they started last year with WDAS turning Marvel's Big Hero 6 into a movie.There is unlimited possibilities of what Disney could now do with their wholly-owned Marvel Ent. and it library of 8,000 characters.

Sadly no there is not an unlimited possibility of what they can do. For movie use, FOX still owns the rights to the X-Men franchise and all its mutants, including those from teams like X-Factor and others. There is issues with this occurring right now as both Marvel and FOX are claiming the rights to Scarlett Witch and Quicksilver as mutants from each franchise. They're both mutants, but in the next Avengers movie they are supposedly not going to be referred as such. Thankfully it was just announced that Marvel and Sony will be cooperating with each other to start a new Spiderman reboot and this guarantees that Spiderman will make appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is appropriate.

latininxtc The question is, while Sony still has creative control and ownership of the "Spiderman" property will the Spiderman in the MCU be the "same" character as in the Sony movies or will it be a "parallel universe" version of Spiderman played by the same actor as in the Sony movies? And if it is the same character, and assuming they go with an "established" Spiderman (per rumors I have heard) rather than yet another origin story, will the events of MCU impact the Sony movies and visa versa? Avengers in based in NYC and so is Spiderman so if they are going with a Spiderman who has existed for a while, where was he during Chitari Invasion? Was he identified by that HYDRA weapon revealed in Winter Soldier? If not, why?

well...started this video off with a failure, since in the first clip I heard "Theron" instead of "Famine"...it would have been Pestilence, War, Death, and Theron. one of those things just doesn't fit XD
