@@yourbuddykevin The amp has a mono line output from the preamp (with a level control) BEFORE the power tube. You can run that line output into effects pedals or a DAW. You can also turn up the master volume and hear the amp acoustically at the same time if you wanted. This gives you the option of using the amp silently through effects for recording, recording with effects in a DAW or both if you also miked the amp. The direct line output does sound better (more like an amp through a speaker) when output through a speaker sim or IR, but as it is it does have a nice tube feel and tone.

Bill Harris sounds interesting. I have the amp on order so I’ll try something similar out. So because you’re not getting any of the power tube through interface, hows the dirty tones?

@@yourbuddykevin I've used the 1605R with a Rivera Mini Rockrec which takes the whole amp output from the speaker out jack and provides multiple emulated cab options that are line level allowing you to go into effects pedal and or into a DAW. That sound, which is post preamp and post power amp tube, did sound slightly better than just the preamp out. For me the difference wasn't enough to justify the hassle of hooking it up that way, the line out sounds very nice with a cab sim. I use mostly clean to slightly edge of grit type tones so I'm not the one to ask about serious dirt.There are a few KZfaq demos of guys getting good dirty tones out of it, so listen to them and see what you think. It's solidly made and I've taken it apart several times to change both the preamp and power amp tubes. It comes with JJs and I couldn't really beat their sound. My Blackstar Studio 10 6L6 has a post power tube line out which sounds great too, but both amps need a cab sim or IR to sound ultimate. Both amps can sound great with the Supro being a little bit grittier and the Blackstar definitely being a clean machine.I would place drive pedals into the front end of the amp and other effects after the emulated line out. I run both of my amps through a Strymon Iridium and it works well in beefing up the line out tone and there are many other options. Hope it helps.

I am. There’s still a lot I like about it, but in retrospect I would go with the head. I’m not a huge fan of the 8” speaker in it but the preamp / power amp is pretty great.

I use the Line Out/ Power Amp in as an Effectsloop and it works great. Only issues i thought i had happened when i didn‘ t let the amp warm up long enough, so i thought using the effectsloop allows only half the max volume. But these issues vanished once it was fully at operating temperature. I haven‘t figured out the right EQ settings for very low volume playing. Almost impossivle to dial in a decent tone at very low volume because the knobs have such a range

For the purposes of this video; i am only recording the stereo input from the cab sim at the end of the stereo board, BUT a huge thing about this amp is that I could easily mic the cabinet for my dry tone and then also take the stereo outs at the end for a wet/dry/wet rig. The only reason that isn’t the case here is because my Apollo twin is only 2 inputs.

Coincidentally, i run nearly the exact same board as you right down to the cabzeus (which i LOVE) and starting with the benson and condor. Its eerily similar. I even switch out for the same pedals haha. Its creepy. Anyway. You just solved a big live sound problem for me, so thanks. Hows the reverb on the supro?

You should probably have more subs by the way. The content is really superb. You helped me decide on the meris mercury 7 and i couldnt be happier. You were right. It stacks so well with the echosystem and dark world verbs. It really spreads out the dark world.

The reverb on the Supro sounds great. It’s responsive and clean and deep. This amp has line level wet and dry outs too which is awesome. Sometime in the near future I’m gonna showcase some of those features. The wet out on it allows for stuff like using the tube driven reverb in this amp as a studio reverb tool on drums and vocals.

Yeah, ive been checking it out. It looks like an amazing studio tool. Ive been looking for a good 5 watt. They tend to either be crap or 2500 bucks. This guy seems like the business though, at 700 used. Sold. Thanks for the responses! Super helpful!

The speaker in this thing can be. I felt like a good preamp and some midrange tweaked solved for *some* of that. If I needed to exclusively use the speaker I would swap it out because I really love everything else about it.
