Totally forgot to mention about Waveshaper (05:12) - It lets us choose the wave shape used for distortion (Soft, Hard, Asymetric, Sine, Digital) and the slider controls its drive. From 2:08 to 2:56, there seems to be presence of noise when the notes slide. It is probably the result of KZfaq Compression as it was not at all there in the original video. 5:40 - I meant to say 'the output of that oscillator' and not "the output of that filter"

AdK, just wow! WOW!! You made me fall in love with the synth's features. I have this synth for months but never really used it. Now you made me wanna just go ahead use it. The features are so impressive. Guess I needed this. Impressive things about Surge over other synths. 2 scenes acting as two whole patches. Polyphonic LFOs (ie. the 'LFOs') (a question, are LFOs in others like Serum and Vital polyphonic like these?) Loved the thought of 'Send FX'. Loved how thoughtfully designed this is, from the feel of the sound (Warm, Bright) to being able to set OscDrift or Waveshape. The modulation is also so straight forward. Thanks AdK. i was actually reluctant to test Surge out looking at how many controls it had. But you just made all that clear to me!! 😊😊😘 Loved Mr Bean demonstration though 😂😂😂😂

Why did you wait until 3/4 of the video before you made it AWESOME? You should have started with that same level of fun from the get-go. It was the best "explanation" of the different LFO trigger behaviors I've ever seen, but a lot of people might not have watched that far.
@hostnik7773 жыл бұрын
It also would have helped if you would have given a quick intro about what Surge is (ie subtractive 3osc / 2layer synth w/basic wavetables etc) and the overall signal flow before jumping into the feature by feature. I really liked how you visually identified the main sections of the GUI, so that would be a good place to show signal flow.

Glad you found it "AWESOME" XD (and you stayed till that part ) :-) I made this video for those who actually know about the synth, but didn't know all the parameters. (Just like I was, before reading the manual). That is why the title is "Getting Started", and since I'm not good enough with intros and not like to waste any time of my viewer, I started from the starting point of the sound generation, But, I guess I should actually have just introduced the synth for the viewer who doesn't know about it. Okay, I don't understand whats going on and I'm at my wits end. When I play a new note, my audio clicks, like a pop or a cracking noise. It doesn't matter what computer I'm on, or what DAW I use, I ALWAYS get there annoying ass clicking noises whenever a new note starts. I can KIND of solve it by adding a tiny amount of attack, but sometimes the crack is so loud and long that I have to make the attack longer than I want to and it ruins the sound.

The presentation style is bad. Too hasty. You play noise without prior warning, which can be harmful to the viewers. You don't really explain the parameters: for example - where is Filter 2?
@adk_studios2 жыл бұрын
I like videos that do not waste my time. Thats one of the principles I follow while making videos. If thats coming of as hasty, you can reduce the youtube playback speed. That noise generator was a bit too loud. And I played it without expecting it to be that loud. I could have reduced that volume in the post production. But, that will be tampering with the demonstration. But, yea. Thats something I should have warned atleast by text overlay. My spologies. Explaining parameters will go into sound designing territory which is beyond the scope of this video. Only wanted it to be completely about Surge. Reason - I found myself overwhelmed by all the parameters when I myself first tried the synth. Filter 2 - Follow the mouse at 3:44 when I say "Filter 2". Thanks for the feedback ✌🏻
