Greek 8mm Mauser has been coming into the country substantially for awhile now, and being some of the more affordable military surplus, I wanted to see how it stacks up in quality.

Bought from Atlantic, 945, then bought a M937A and received another 945 Greek Ammo hitting the range Saturday. Semper Fidelis

I bought 960rds of this stuff and just did a test run with 40rds of it today. Rifle is a minty VZ24 with a Wolff 22lb firing pin spring. I received a mix of headstamps with my lot. Most are P C H 39 while some are just E K, both with black primer sealant. 39 rounds fired fine, 1 round needed a second strike. No hang fires. All spent brass looks good, no cracked necks or anything. Didn't test for accuracy, but was definitely more accurate than the Turk stuff. Was getting dark and those Mauser sights are hard to see. Seems like pretty decent surplus, might pick up another case.

Great vid, John. The other boxes I have from this lot also have mixed head stamps, good observation. Happy to see you reviewing it and that it fired flawlessly, I have been very curious to see the results. Looking forward to seeing the other reviews too. Btw, I also use windex for cleaning corrosive ammo, works great!

I bought 200 rounds of this greek 8mm ammo, I don't think it was the exact same head stamps or lot, cause I had at least 1 minor but noticeable hang fire every clip - 5 rounds - !! it was still good & accurate in my Yugo M48 I used it up in 2 sessions at the range, once in summer time approximately & once in the dead middle of winter !! I could usually hit a slightly larger than a basketball steel target most shots at 200 yards/meters ? whatever !! I cleaned it thoroughly each time, its Purdy good & affordable relatively, being 85 years old

Whats the condition of your Yugo main spring? Had similar issue and wolff spring kit cleared up. Ymmv

@@herewegofans the condition of the entire gun is great, most of what I shoot from it fires perfectly, I think it was just a bad lot of Greek ammo & maybe the primers were hard or it got wet, I bought the ammo from a gun store in Florida !!

Recently I bought a couple boxes of Greek 8mm for 12.99 each. Took a crack at them at the range. Fired fine, no hang fires or duds, however had a hard time trying to extract the casing after each shot. Accuracy wise was okay. I’d then compared it to Romanian and had a better cycling. Other than that, it’s alright with them for plinking.

I got a case of this on Saturday. I shot 2 boxes of it today, no issues and it was fairly accurate. Mine is 1938 dated. I knew that its corrosive, cleaned up with simple green and pb blaster after shooting.

I just got 960 rounds of this ammo from 1939. I went to the range and had two not fire out of 50. Primer strike was deep and solid for both. I’m not too upset about two rounds not firing considering they are 85 years old.

Bought 1890 rounds of some Greek ammo along with a Portuguese contract M937A. Shot 50 rounds without an issue, and very pleasant accuracy for surplus ammo out of an old rifle. I really wish i knew for sure if i could shoot it out of my 1918 Danzig Gew 98 or my FN49, but i dont think im going to roll the dice on those platforms. Being careful is a good call, but you should be ok with the Greek ammo

I’ve got a full auto MG34 coming in so I’ve been looking at ammo to stock up on in quantity, and this Greek surplus is about half the price of Romanian or Yugo 50’s surplus. I’m thinking on buying a case or two of this stuff as a test and seeing how it functions

I have issues with these rounds firing properly. They look the same, but I have a 2/5 firing rate.

Interesting... I have a series on fixing light strikes that may be worth checking out. Also, not all surplus ammo was stored the same after it left the factory. It could be an issue caused by improper storage between 1939 and today.
