How come all the other reviewers running tests on these for the last year are saying the BT version are very different sound much worse (even using it wired) than the original non-BT version?

people are hating on the BT models of the 361 and 371 but no one is reviewing them wired and the ones that are aren't taking advantage of the upgraded 4 pin mini xlr of the BT models. Here is a scenario, you listen to them over balanced wire for 8 hour day at work and then take them home wireless for random home listening on the weekend.

@@DEVANC4VETTE yes they are, at least two reviewers, including the well-respected Josh Valour, have compared them, and say using the BT version wired it quite inferior and disappointing to the non-BT version of the 361.

Do they have the same channel imbalence issue as the 371bt or have they fixed that? Also you should get a akg n700ncm2 to compare it with. Its tuned to the harman target and has the best eq settings of all anc cans.

My trusty Bose QC-15’s finally died after 8 years of daily driving. Needed a quick replacement to hold me over till my wallet could handle the Audeze LCD-XC 2021 editions. Personally, the AKG K361 was a no-brainer replacement. Now with the new benefit of bluetooth, which is always a welcome addition, i’m excited for this unplanned update to my audio equipment. While there are quality control concerns, it’s certainly a risk i’m willing to take, especially with sweetwater product support. Use: Desktop and mobile listening, gaming, A/V editing, vocal tracking. Dac: Motu M4. Amp: Schiit VALI 2, AKG HP4E

actually i've got the 371BT, they're decent but have a big annoyance - they turn off after 5 minutes of idle - so they're very frustrating to use as a dektop headphone

Just got my pair today and there is a pretty bad channel imbalance, the bass in the right cup is much quieter. After looking online apparently there are quite a few QC issues with the K361 and K371 in general. Looks like that also has carried over to the bluetooth version. Extremely disappointed in AKG for letting this persist for as long as it has. Safe to say I will be returning them.

There is no active DSP being used according to the AKG Engineers, so it should not sound different, aside from maybe BT compression artifacts.

Had those and returned, way overrated, unlistenable without eq, even with it couldnt make it sound engaging. Also look weird on the head and lack clamp.

Have the AKG 371BT. Love these. However, I had a pair before and it snapped at the headband joint. The QC of these headphones is extremely questionable BUT the sound is amazing. Edit: To add, I've also realized that the detachable cable with mine does not appropriately ground my headphones so I can't use them as studio monitors. Tbh, these headphones have some of the worst QC i've seen. They do sound good tho so...maybe they'll do a better job next time around.

the QC is really shit on these, had the exact same experience as you where the headband snapped at the joint within a month of use, AKG was willing to replace them though from the looks of things, fingers crossed that the new pair works as intended (hopefully properly grounded too but I don't have to do studio work so its not a big deal)

The K361's really weren't that good. I really wanted to like them too, the design is benevolent. They sound really gritty or dull from 1k to 3-4k. Granted I think the overall sound is safe and flat, but I kept them around for a while and I stopped using them over 58x's and 400SE's. I think i'd even take m40x's (with EQ) over the K361's, also after about a month of wear the pads compressed so much that my ears were flushed against/ touched the drivers.

@@aszbzpszbz9786 works fine until it gets loose after like 0.002 seconds of being moved while plugged in. There isn’t a more fragile connection in the market. The only thing worse was the 20pin iPad connectors that Wacom stubbornly refused to get rid of until finally upgrading to micro usb.

I bought the AKG Pro Audio K361BT on Amazon and had to return them because they sounded terrible. Like actually terrible. The worst sounding headphones I've ever heard. Actually blew my mind. Five below headphones sound better for $5. Absolute joke of a product.

I got a pair of K361BT 6 months ago by accident (ordered the non-BT version but got the BT version), it sounds absolutely awful, like way worse than anything I owned including cheapo $20 koss/chi-fi, I think my unit might be flawed

That sounds like you got a defective pair. Cuz I have both and they sound similar. Like so similar I couldn't switch headphones fast enough to catch it. AKG engineers supposedly also think they did their best but couldn't get them to sound exactly the same between the BT and Passive models. Personally, the BT doesn't sound bad enough for me to choose the passive one.
