I’m not a fan of Alessandro’s first collection at Valentino given that he had a very short amount of time to come up with it. My first impression is that his first collection looks like one of his Gucci collection, but labeled Valentino. The bumbags in this collection, especially in the brown suede gives me Chloe vibes. Given the current fashion trends and economic environment, I don’t think his first collection is going to do so well. Maybe I’ll be wrong.

It’s a huge 🖕🏼to Gucci. I think it’s great. His fans will just follow him to Valentino. It’s all good. Great video 🫶🏼

Every time you said “it reminds me of the Gucci bag” you made me wonder if you know that these styles are classic European bag styles that every European brand has. Good start for Valentino bc honestly it was soooo boring with 15 years of the same rock stud bags and shoes on top of every clothes collection looking like an old Chloe collection

This would be great if this was at missoni, etro, or even Chanel.

I loved his Gucci, and I will gladly follow Alessandro Michele's travelling circus to Valentino. 🎪😍

Not the worst collection I've ever seen. But I have seen it before. Several dozen times.

The collection looks very vintage and it seems like a big pivot for the usual sexy vibes of Valentino.

It’s so Alessandro, I’m a fan of this collection and it’s already more interesting than what Gucci is putting out

Valentino under MGC & PP had a lot of beaded, boho, tribal styles as well. I'm not super shocked to see it from Valentino

Hi Mary, I am not sure how I feel about the new Valentino. It’s definitely not something, that we would associate Valentino with. 🤔🤪😳 I think it’s too boho for me lol . Have a blessed day🙏❤️

I hate the whole collection. It looks dated and done before. Wait, he did it before at Gucci. This shows that Alesandro is not a versatile designer and that he could care less about the asthetic of the brand. He didn't he try to understand the assignment, just copied and pasted work he done before but changed the label. Lazy.

Creative directors don’t adapt to brands, brands hire creative directors to put their personal direction into the brands
@samsopretty25 күн бұрын
@@samarmorsi I get that. But he literally just brought over an unrealeased Gucci collection and called it Valentino. Even Jonathan Anderson has given Loewe a signature vibe while paying attention to the brand archives and astethic all the while infusing his creative twist. Alesandro was very lazy. It doesn't look like Valentino or even the new Valentino direction...it looks like unrelased Gucci. Nothing is fresh, everything has been done before. He didn't even work for this paycheck... very egotistical.

It is inspired by 60's and 70's Valentino. Of course it looks like done before. Just maybe that was the assignment?
@AR-cf9di24 күн бұрын
I mean that’s why they hired him??
@satanlucifer443724 күн бұрын
I dont get your criticism. He used Valentino's codes from the 70s and molded it to his design ethos. Valentino hired him for this aesthetic

Omg so so so many thoughts!!!!! Objectively I just have to completely say how genius the references are 😍😍😍😍 Even though it is obviously the opposite from my personal style, once I connected with Alessandro’s home and his interior voice, I literally understood his design style more 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Those bohemian suede bags reminds me of Ysl they did it few years ago. If no-one told me, I wouldn’t think it was Valentino I think it was from Gucci.

There were some things here that were stunning. I loved them. Particularly the silver (velvet?) maxi dress with dark cream or ecru lace. Wow. The boho inspired embroidered net dresses were gorgeous. Some things though were SO granny chic it hurt. My grandmother was a VERY well dressed lady and would have definitely worn some of those suits with the silk bows. I’m not anti-fur pur se but some of the fur didn’t look “glamorous”. It looked dowdy 😬. I’m not sure fur has the same meaning it used to have and so it doesn’t “do” what it used to for the wearer. Same with feathers. I did like the patterned tights. And the HATS! Wow! It’s been so long since ladies wore hats for everyday. The recent bucket hat was more of a useful sun or rain hat, not really a fashion hat. As for going pre loved or vintage, a lot of these clothes from the 60s and 70s, have already been worn to death. It’s SO FAR past those eras that the actual clothes are threadbare. Many of the styles shown here were never worn in that time, they are impressions of what was worn.

This is just Gucci again. Nothing to see here. He’s a one trick pony that should have his own house not be the head of someone else’s.

I love it. It’s Gucci for Valentino! I’m here for all the Maximalism! I love the clothes but I’m not really feeling the bags. Probably because I have always hated the Valentino logo. It’s so basic.

Very good video. I am a 51 yo man, and I am done with prints, except for stripes. All these looks are so niche, for the wealthy bourgeoisie who live in their own world m
@ohthankg-dforthebourgeoisi980025 күн бұрын
I’m a 58 yo lady. Most designer threads really only look good on the tall, thin and young. I think that might apply doubly with these clothes. If I put on a suit design from the 70’s OMG! I would look SO dowdy it would be painful. I remember the punk kids in high school raiding the local thrift stores for 40’s 50’s and 60’s suits, ties and dresses. They looked so much like this bunch. Made me smile! As an older person, wearing older styles just makes me look out of touch.

I like and find it important for there to be gender fluidity in fashion, that goes without saying. That said, my very unpopular opinion is that I don't think all fashion needs to be gender fluid and I do like more traditional "womenswear" and "menswear". As much as I appreciate Michele, I really wish he would issue a traditionally conceived collection in that regard. This honestly looks like Gucci except there's less Gucci green/red (and just stick a Valentino logo instead of Gucci). I'm honestly not excited about Valentino being Gucci 2.0.

My hesitancy in purchasing Pheobe Philo the Kit Cabas or the Gig Pouch were the fringe detail. I can see it dragging on the floor🤮 when the strap is held in your hand

Looks dated! It has that “been there done that” vibe. With people tightening their belts these days, I doubt, anyone would cough up thousands of dollars/euros for these one season “wonders.”

I don't like the logo. Was never a fan of AM's style, however I love the 50's tailored suits. Very elegant. I hope the rockstuds are banished.
@gobyfish139925 күн бұрын
Valentino the founder, his aesthetic was maximalist and GENDERED. Very feminine, for women and conventional masculine for men. AM, is making Valentino queer, so enough with the excuses, he made Valentino his Gucci look. He's a one track designer. Fact not criticism, since some people do like that look.

The clothes are good but the styling is so overdone that we cannot focus that’s the only critique
