From Season 4, Episode 04: "Bullet Points"
Breaking Bad follows protagonist Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a chemistry teacher who lives in New Mexico with his wife (Anna Gunn) and teenage son (RJ Mitte) who has cerebral palsy. White is diagnosed with Stage III cancer and given a prognosis of two years left to live. With a new sense of fearlessness based on his medical prognosis, and a desire to secure his family's financial security, White chooses to enter a dangerous world of drugs and crime and ascends to power in the world. The series explores how a fatal diagnosis such as White's releases a typical man from the daily concerns and constraints of normal society and follows his transformation from mild family man to a kingpin of the drug trade.

A lot to unpack on these scenes: Walt saying “I’m sorry, I’m sorry that i had to put you through all of this” so convincingly, that not just Skyler, but us as an audience believe for a split second that he may be saying it for real, just to reveal that it was a suggestion for the script, really puts into perspective how good he is at lying and manipulating Also, Hank having an interest on Minerals just for Walt to yap at the little details really sounds like: “☝️🤓”

I think that is one of the main reasons he said Heisenberg is still out there The meth genious of Albaquerque, the dreadful Heisenberg was that dancing guy. Walt's "heritage" couldn't be it, hence the disagreement with Hank. That pathetic guy was just copying, he's poseur - the real badass and genious is not him.

I'm not a feminist and I'm almost always skeptical when the word "misogony" gets thrown around, but hating Skyler seems like a pretty good indicator in my book of misogony.

@@Luddmeisternjust depends on why. I don’t like Skylar because she takes away from the action scenes. I view it as tv now as reality tho

@@michaeljordan8859 Well that's fine but that's a bigger argument that could be levied to Walter Jr or whomever. But most of the time the justification for the hate of Skyler I hear is "She should have known her place etc"... She's far from perfect but Walter White is a narcissist. Just because he's the "protagonist" of the show doesn't mean he isn't a piece of shit...

@@michaeljordan8859it's the "reality" aspect of it what makes the action more meaningful, tho. If we didn't have scenes of the White family, we wouldn't care if Walt is caught or even if someone may want to kill them. Walt being at home always had the threat of people like Tuco or Gus showing up/sending someone. People always thought that either Skyler or Flynn were going to die because of Walt, and that wouldn't have been as impactful if Walt had gone to a mansion alone like Scarface. The S5 opener is much better because you don't know if they died or not, which again, wouldn't matter if we didn't spend time with them

@@rustyskunks no he really really does. He’s not a mustache twirling villain. The problem with Walt is not that he doesn’t have the same emotions that you and I do. His problem is that, in spite of them, he makes choices that lead to horrible consequences, then he compartmentalizes those consequences so he doesn’t have to think about them as he continues to do bad things, and finally he becomes more and more desensitized to the consequences of his actions which allows him to be even more brazen, cold and terrible.
