I have the TPS M6 in .22LR/.410. I really like it. I keep it in my Jeep most of the time and have taken squirrels, rabbits, and an occasional rattlesnake with it. It’s very handy. Tip: You can easily remove the trigger guard and just fold it in half for storage, then pop the trigger guard back on for use (if you want to). It’s made of spring steel and just pressure fit on. The original Springfield version didn’t have a trigger guard for that reason.

I’ve been watching your channel for a few months now and I have to admit, your priorities and mindset are really spot on and in the right frame of mindset for survival. I see so many preppers/survivalists exc exc who go so hard on military calibers and firearms that they don’t really realize what they actually need in a survival situation. (Yes this model is based off of the m6 model that started in Vietnam Air Force personnel to use if they go down in hostile territory and they can use this survival rifle to survive and hunt game) I know that. However, so many people I see who are preppers focus so much on battle rifles and things that are meant for war zones that you aren’t really aware of what the needs and requirements will be in MOST cases (yes there is a time and a place for war style self defense arms because there will be desperate people and the need to defend yourself against humans. However, most of the time you are trying to lay low and stay alive. You want to hunt small game and carry low caliber ammo for the sake of weight alone and how much of it you can carry due to the weight. Also, even if you do hunt big game with battle rifles (which obviously you can do) what would you do with that much meat? Yea you could preserve it using primative or non primitive means however unless your planning on feeding a community and you are at your bugout location you most likely will be wasting a lot of time storing/processing on site which leaves you exposed if anyone near by can generally pin point the shot/shots you fired to kill the animal in the first place. Also last but not least you have to waste a lot of precious calories carrying it back to your camp if your alone. I know this was drawn out and detailed, but I see people with a prepared mindset more often than not get into the whole fantasy of being military styled survivalists who carry weapons and heavy ass ammo rounds in bulk who prioritize like they expect to get into a firefight every other day. (Yes there are some exceptions where you can and might run into that) but whether you have the capability to defend like that or not you won’t survive most war style gun fights, someone who shoots first will more often then not kill you in the first shot or atleast fatally wound while they still have the advantage of not being known of before they fire. The best way to survive (unless you are at your bugout location is to travel light, carry a boat load of light weight ammo with a low sound signature and have a shot gun capability if 22. Or pistol caliber doesn’t cut it. You my friend as I said have a wonderful mindset and a great sense of what’s important to carry. Thank you for your video.

I couldn't agree more. Also, thanks for adding to the conversation, as this is an important point that isn't talked about enough.

Nice video! I have a CZ made M6 Scout 22/410 and love it. I've been looking at the TPS M6 357/410 for a while now but am yet to "pull the trigger" on it. I'd love to hear more from you about this rifle in the future if at all possible. Cheers mate and keep up the good work!

Greetings from Germany and great Video👍 I own the original Springfield Arms M6 Scout Rifle in 22lr. and .410 stainless version, in my opinon it´s a very good rifle.

I remember reading an article back in the nineties about running a couple of aluminum arrow shafts parallel and between the barrels to store better than 20, .22lr. rounds on board his M6. He also fastened an elastic rifle sized butt cuff to his stock and carried an additional 9-10 rounds of .410. Not sure what your best bet would be for .357 magnum rounds but, maybe a piece of capped/threaded PVC tubing?

Also a semi-automatic 22 RIFLE has more power,people don't agree, but it would be just fine for self-defense in an emergency. They're accurate you can shoot fast, hit small plate size Targets no problem at all. Dead center use your imagination go for the eye. Yes it's not ideal obviously but it's for an emergency Only not for long term fights or engagement, it's for Wilderness survival first and foremost. That's why I think the m6 though it's only two shots can shine because you can get it in 357 Magnum so you can shoot 38 special as well and then your variety of shot shells for the 410 from slugs all the way to buck and bird would be more versatile

I really like that m6 but she's a little salty.. I would love a 357/20g combo. I see the website says more options coming...

I wonder, can you remove the front post and install a trijicon or meprolight style front, like the AR?
@theaveragewoodsman60024 ай бұрын
I'm not sure if that's possible. They do make a rail mount, so an optic like a red dot can be added.

I have the Henry AR , it's a good rifle for what it was designed for . Charter Arms guns were good too (excluding the magazines ) . Use an after market magazine . I had two Charter Arms Explorer pistols , they were great too . Did have one of the pistol go full auto on me , that was because the ammo being used had a very heavy coating of wax . Shooting many rounds , maybe a thousand or more rounds , and not cleaning the gun , the action got gummed-up and slowed down . I held on and kept the gun pointing down range , letting burn the mag . Cleaned and inspected the gun after that , it performed flawlessly . Don't believe the often repeated b.s. of people . Charter Arms produced quality guns ( again , excluding the magazine ). Charter Arms at its end did have personel problems . I tried to order spare parts during this phase and the office personel just throwed my order away , never notifying me so . That has nothing to do with the quality of their firearms . Henry made a few improvements to the AR , I would buy one again if need be . Remember they are made for a nitch . Good content ! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

I've never owned a Charter Arms product, but what I've always heard has been negative. It's nice to hear a different perspective.

I have the Henry AR7, two TPS arms M6s, 1 in .22 mag over .410, the other .410 over .410, and one of the Czech made Springfield Armory M6s, in .22LR over .410. IMO, the original M6s are superior to the new ones, however that's not to say the TPS guns are bad. They are very well made . If I had to choose however, I'd go for an original. The TPS guns only advantage is the captured takedown pin, similar to an AR. Now, to those who will say the Henry is unreliable, they're wrong! They're also simply quoting knowledge of and or experience with tje older AR 7s. Namely the Charter arms guns, which were unreliable. Henry has worked tje kinks out of their version enough to make theirs a very reliable .22.

The gun and sling are not unique to Dave Cantebury. There are a lot of each out there

A survival rifle is any damn rifle that will shoot! Period! Cut the Bullshit!
@theaveragewoodsman60024 ай бұрын
Not really. A survival rifle is a subset of rifles. It's designed to fit in a survival kit and aid in survival.
