@Survival Lilly • Thanks for your persistence with the bow drill. While I like the variety of your videos, each demonstration you do with the bow drill reminds me how important it is to practice skills and in all types of weather. Think about this Lilly. Remove the handle from the knife and drill a hole the same size as the OD of a bearing. You should be able to find a bearing with the same depth as the handle scale. Glue it in place. Lose the the skateboard wheel.

Excellent video. More is learned from seeing potential failures, than from seeing other slickly edited examples of the bow drill that I had seen before. So what I learned most, is that after 2 attempts, I hope I remembered to bring my ferro rod, with the bic lighter taped to it....ha. Even south of the maple leaf, I keep a zero degree bag in the car all winter. Good reminder.

I saw a video that demonstrated a bow drill fire without a bow, which Survival Lilly has talked about. You just spin the drill between your hands. Very difficult. The man doing it was a "Bushman", whose ancestors were the original inhabitants of South Africa... demonstrating for tourists. He got a fire started quickly but I noticed that he put a small amount of some black powder into the hole. Gunpowder? No, I don't think so. I was thinking maybe powdered charcoal. After all, primitive people would have ready access to charcoal. I do wonder if powdered charcoal would help. It wouldn't be cheating as forest fires or brush fires are natural phenomena anyway.

A cheap closed-cell foam pad is great to have too. It's a bit bulky but you can use it so many ways. You can wrap it around your core, sit on it, sleep in it, create a wind block with it, etc. You should have used a rock as a base to split that log. You're just going to ruin your pack doing it that way. That ember dust is called the punk.

Great stuff as usual, you're the best. One small detail. The "floor" is usually part of the interior of a building you walk/stand/sit on. When you are outside, especially in the forest, you walk/stand/sit on the "ground." As I said, a small detail. The rest of your English is prefect.

So after watching the video and giving praise to it you decided it’s a good idea to say something about a translation on word play that have the same meaning in just about all but your language? Her English is perfect for a million people. Yours just just annoying. So if a floor is the inside of a structure and ground it the outside and you are in a forest because you are in something it is a floor but if you leave the forest and are now out side the forest it is on the ground? Or would it be the earth? Or dirt? Or gravel? Don’t give a halfass definition on words. And learn more about the language. Floor has been used as the term for in a forest for forever. It’s like telling your wife her hair n makeup is on point. Love the outfit. Your fat tho. Small detail
