Hey man, my father lives in cardwell and I've fished that jetty quite often with him for a good way to just relax together. We normally catch grunter on prawns, as well as king and blue salmon. Live mullet or herring is the best for Barramundi and Fingermark. Whatever you do, don't get in the water for a spear. There is a few resident crocs in the area

the one that mark caught is a blue salmon which you can eat but idk what the size limit is. threadfin salmon or king salmon have 2 long whiskers on the bottom of their head and are usually a goldish colour, they also grow bigger than blue salmon.

Nice vid as always Luke mate. You were right about the trevally, they are great pan-sized, and get less tasty as they get bigger. Pity your cast net died, it would have been real handy, especially with those mullets and the barra biting. The best news is less than a month until you can catch and eat barra again!

@@lukefalzon I have a chronically infected knee so I can't get out much. I used to do a lot of fishing when I was younger (teen to 30's) and living in Bendigo, freshwater fishing doesn't excite me much. When you have been lucky enough to live in Cairns for my childhood and 20s like I was, the fishing spoils you. I fish on KZfaq now on channels like yours!

dont ever swim and snorkel that thing. there's a croc call big boy that lives in a creek to the north of wreck creek, if I remember rite . any way he very regally cruises the cardwell foreshore, and at 6 meters plus, who is going to stop him. Ron moody has a vid on him on his KZfaq channel. I watched it and relised I had been crabbing that very creek, a few weeks before, in my 3 meter polycraft tender. that's something I won't be doing again . I think big boy is pretty chill, but you wouldn't want to put temptation in his way,...... would you.

@@jasecahill-burchill7429 well I haven't seen him but 4 meters is any old croc in moods video he sates 6 plus ill have to go back and check , you would not call a croc 4 meters long, big boy. I would serjest. as they are a dime a dozen. we have a 5 meter plus here in mourilian harbor he seems to stay up the creek that faces the first cane farm and is well know to the farmer. as I dont go up there I have never seen him and dont want to. I have only crabbed in big boys creek on the way back from Hinchinbrook/Lucinda. is it wreck creek ,I just checked google and that's the creek I crabbed. you may know much more than me about him, I dont want to meet him leaning over the side pulling pots in the little tuff tender. still as far as I hear he doesn't cause any real trouble. as that guy got pull out of that tiny dingy at Hinchinbrook while I was at Lucinda makes you think when your hands are a foot under water freeing pot lines..
