If you ever do this again, I really suggest you do a shift pod. Reflective outside, less heat, a bit sturdier. Do make sure to put heavy stuff in there. It's expensive, but it can really make a big difference. (Lots of people have them for multi-day festivals, especially in hot locations). Also, some MRE,s some calorie dense stuff that can last you weeks just in case.

You could build a hurricane proof cabin above storm surge with solar/batt. Climate controlled, fridge, etc. It wouldn't be cheap to due to material cost in the bahamas, but you could charter a larger boat with all the supplies from FL, then build it. Two people could totally do it as long as they bring enough supplies for the duration.
