When my now husband and I had just started dating, we were driving to a restaurant, both dressed nice. (He was hot. Lol) It was raining hard. I saw something in a ditch and told him. He slowed down. A cow was stuck in mud in a ditch. We both got out without saying a word. He got his rope out of the truck, I got the shovel out of his toolbox. We worked together and got this cow out. He was pulling her, I was pushing. Right when we heard the sound of the mud releasing her, she pooped all over me as she came up. It was not pleasant. My boyfriend checked out the cow and made sure she wasn't hurt. Checked on me. I told him I would be alright but I need a shower, fast. He called the owner of the cow who came to get her. My boyfriend helped fix the fence as I stood in the rain and got as much ick off of me as possible. My boyfriend had coveralls in his toolbox and gave them to me. I changed in his truck. He got back in the truck and said, "Well, that was a shitty start to our date. We're Mike?" I didn't know what he meant. He took me back to his house and told his mother I needed clothes and he wanted to show me Dirty Jobs. I wore his mother's sweats and we watched Dirty Jobs with his parents while my icky clothes were washed by his mom (I told her I could wash them she told me no. Lol) My husband tells me that was the night he told his dad that I was the one. 🤣 (I remember that he told his dad to skip an episode. Found out later it was the horse insemination one. Lol)

​@@keekers That's a great first date story, and the fact that ya'll wound up getting married, and are still together makes it all the better ! On another note, fortunately for you, cow manure is mostly composed of what amounts to half digested grass, it's not quite as bad as others animal poo. It's still pretty gross though, it wouldn't be as humorous though had it been from something other than a ruminant animal !

Except, ours wasn't a cow, it was his car. He pushed with mud flying everywhere while I gave it gas. He had on a rented tuxedo and didn't want it to get ruined, so he took everything off except the bowtie. I wasn't allowed to turn around, but I peeked. 😂 He was hot too!!! When I got home with my prom dress and bare feet covered in mud, he started calling me his muddy-toed girl.

Most people don’t agree with me, but in every role I have seen Meryl Streep , all I see is Meryl Streep playing X, same with many actors. What I think I should see is the character, and not notice the actor. And I really think the entire entertainment complex was far more enjoyable when I had no idea the actors had a life outside of film. I don’t want to know their political opinions. Basically be an actor, go to work do your job, go home.

I was 20 when it came out and I remember laughing out loud at the scene where Tom Cruise gets a check from Elizabeth Shue's father to just go away. I thought it was hysterical that we were supposed to feel sorry for this low life who was crawling back to the girl he cheated on.

Same here. Decades ago, in the last couple of days before Christmas, my wife and I were sitting on the couch at like two in the morning, laughing our butts off as a smart-ass commented on the children's toys he was selling during his graveyard shift on QVC. I particularly recall a Weebles-like miniature playground set with a tiny merry-go-round the host dryly referred to as the "revolving pod of death." Who would've guessed back then that this man who would be fired from QVC multiple times would become a true national treasure.

Cocktails soundtrack was awesome

I enjoyed Cocktail when it came out, but I was a teenager. It is on my list of movies I will never watch again because I suspect that if I see them as an adult, I will hate them and ruin a fond memory.

"If things didn't end badly they wouldn't end at all" I recently said this to a friend going through a divorce. It seemed to help him put things in perspective. A notable line in Cocktail of course. So, I don't know, good on the writers of Cocktail. Also it wasn't a bad movie for sure. I enjoyed it. One more thing, Elizabeth Shue was, is , and will always be a beautiful woman.

One of the highlights of his career. That movie was truly brilliant. Supposedly at one point they were going to do a spinoff movie about Les Grossman (Tom Cruise's character).

It was a non-issue till more recent years. It would really be helpful if actors would keep their in your face opinions to themselves. This is especially important for actors who are always ‘themselves’ even when acting, as opposed to to actors who so become the character that you don’t notice who is playing the part.
