Found your song Susan, what a beautiful voice. Song triggers some memories of growing up in 70s Africa. This footage of 70s UK (London?) dance scene is quite the treat also. Bless you queen.

My older sister was a skinhead when I was just a little kid, but I always knicked her records and played them, she got so mad with me and said I scratched them! This was one of my faves! Black and white kids were skinheads in those days, no prejudice then! Good times 👍

At just 13 yrs old in the days before domestic violence laws, and where prejudice was against where you was born and not the colour of your skin me and my mum thrown out no place to go, but the black community, let us shelter two white women , no sleeping around with guys none of that, my mum was a fiery Scottish girl, but that where my love of this music came from , it made me feel free, safe, and my love of this music began, im 53yrs now, ive led a decent life, got lovely family, who are lovely people, they think im a bit excentric, to me this music is class luv it always happy new year you all x

Great days! My family lived in Streatham and Brixton and I loved it, the music coming from the neighbours houses, the smell of Jerk Chicken, leaving your front door open, playing football with all the local kids of all races, simple days where my brothers were black, brown, yellow and white, you respected anyone who was older than you ( and wiser ), gentlemen opened the doors for all Ladies, all mothers looked out for all the kids and if you fell over you would go to someone's house where their Mum would wipe the wound with tcp......ouch! I'm proud of how I was raised, I'm proud of the people I met and the things I learnt, I love reggae and Ska, I'm proud to say I was a skinhead, an original Skinhead and not what they later become to symbolise. This music is in my blood and my heart. Peace out where did the Respect go?

I can't believe it. I was mending a PC this evening and I got it working. I put all his music back in to Itunes and as I carried on working on it, I left the music ion shuffle. I heard a song that I thought, "that's good - wonder who it is"? It was Susan Cadogon. I hadn't heard of that name since I was 10. I came straight to You tube and this was the song I remember and loved so much in 1975. It's the first time (well 15 x) i've heard it since then. It's so good to hear this magic voice/ song

Great song, great vocal and a fantastic Lee Perry production. I think the footage comes from a long lost film called 'Reggae' directed by Horace Ove from 1970 whereas I think 'Hurts so Good' is from 1974. Still they go well together and capture the spirit of the time. It's great to read Susan Cadogan's comments on this video.
